Night life in this quiet part of Germany consists mainly of Bar's,cafe's and restaurant's.Munstertal has some very nice bar's to sit in and relax. Often you will find a large table for the locals to sit at and play card's won't find any disco's or Karaoke bar's.Local choir's and Bands hold regular concerts in the churches and village centers.

The dress is informal in bars and "tidy" casuals in the restaurant's.

Hofbrauhaus, Munich: Beer Hier Beer Hier Beer Hier
  • Tip Rating:
  • Germany in general and Munich in particular has zillions of beerhouses. But, the most famous one has to be the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. It's touristy and it's just as likely that you'll be sitting across the table from "Ma and Pa Kettle" from Dogtick, Arkansas as it is that you'll meet real Germans. But still, you GOTTA go there at least once.

A couple of those beers and 30 minutes of oompa music and you'll be ready to mount a putsch of your own.

Probably just about anything is OK within reason. Casual stuff......I've worn jeans both times I've been.

    Hofbrauhaus: Another Beer Hall
  • Tip Rating:
  • For me the Hofbrauhaus Sounded pretty cool as it was always mentioned on the 1960's television show "Hogans Heroes". So I had to check it out!! I ended up there on New Years Eve! I didn't run into Colonel Hogan but I had a Blast!!

There are some places to go...
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are some places to go out in Tirschenreuth (8km away). But if you come to Ploessberg, you should enjoy the nature. The bars and clubs in Tirschenreuth are not worth coming to that laid back place of Germany.
    absolutely none!!!

Farmers go there after their work...

Beer garden in Baveria: Beer garden in Baveria
  • Tip Rating:
  • In Baveria you can go to beer gardens in summer, which is a nice thing during mild summernights with a cold beer or 'Radler' (mixed drink of beer and lemonade) or 'Spezi' (mixed drink of coke and lemonade) or 'Apfelsaftschorle' (mixed drink of carbonated water and appeljuice - very refreshing) .

by the way: it's legal to drink beer with 16 already.

    Films
  • Tip Rating:
  • Movie theaters work by reservation and assigned seating. I'd really like to see them pull off assigned seating in New York--ha! not likely.

There are tons of bad Hollywood movies, of which they seem to only play the crassest and most commercial kind, and they're all dubbed. It's actually cool to see Bruce Willis talking in German, since I find everything about him irritating, and at least this way I wouldn't have to hear his voice

I REALLY hate when all foreign films are automatically dubbed. it's one thing to see the latest trashy american or british flick dubbedi n Germany, another when I want to watch a Chinese or Indian film and they're babbling away in Hochdeutsch. Check listings carefully:

OMU = original with German undertitles
OV = original version in its native language

    German Diskos!: German Diskos!
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are discos, discos, discos everywhere! throughout the whole country! I can't make any credible generalizations except that I find the music on average to be superior to what you find in the typical US club. In places like Berlin and Hamburg they're constantly flying good DJ's in. The goa party scene is very established here, and the festivals and whatnot are very wild. I still don't entirely understand the German dancing thing yet--in fact, I'd say that the dancing can be (what's a nice way to say it) pretty stiff and self conscious--but people get really enthusiastic about it after they get really drunk, which rocks!

reeperbahn in hamburg: reeperbahn in hamburg
  • Tip Rating:
  • if you leave the main street with all the stripjoints and enter some of the little local pubs you can find a very uniqe atmosphere.

dreadlocks and dirty overalls won't get you kicked out, but a t-shirt saying 'i love helmuth kohl might'.

    The Diner: Rock n roll
  • Tip Rating:
  • Authentic 50's American Diner. Typical fast food but great presentation. You really feel as if you are in a real diner in 1950!!

Anything goes but if we ever go back we will wear the rock n roll gear
