Green Goose: Nightlife in Nurnberg

by Maui-Haui

The Green Goose in Nurnberg is a fun place. At least it was when I was in the military back in the late 80's. Primarily servicemen. Good music. Small club. Great place to "people watch". Great place to meet friendly German women. If you don't meet one, no problem. It is a 3 minute walk to "The Wall" which is the red light district. Also fun for people watching ;)They will make you buy a club membership that is good for life. At the time I hung out there it was 10DM. Pretty open. Depends on the bouncer. If you are a regular they don't really care. I think they suggest no jeans/no sneakers.

Films

by miromi

Movie theaters work by reservation and assigned seating. I'd really like to see them pull off assigned seating in New York--ha! not likely. There are tons of bad Hollywood movies, of which they seem to only play the crassest and most commercial kind, and they're all dubbed. It's actually cool to see Bruce Willis talking in German, since I find everything about him irritating, and at least this way I wouldn't have to hear his voiceI REALLY hate when all foreign films are automatically dubbed. it's one thing to see the latest trashy american or british flick dubbedi n Germany, another when I want to watch a Chinese or Indian film and they're babbling away in Hochdeutsch. Check listings carefully:OMU = original with German undertitlesOV = original version in its native language

Hofbrauhaus, Munich: Beer Hier Beer Hier Beer Hier

by 850prc

Germany in general and Munich in particular has zillions of beerhouses. But, the most famous one has to be the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. It's touristy and it's just as likely that you'll be sitting across the table from "Ma and Pa Kettle" from Dogtick, Arkansas as it is that you'll meet real Germans. But still, you GOTTA go there at least once.A couple of those beers and 30 minutes of oompa music and you'll be ready to mount a putsch of your own. Probably just about anything is OK within reason. Casual stuff......I've worn jeans both times I've been.

Abbacab: Pub with Indie-music in Mönchengladbach

by elbe

Pub in the middle of the oldtown. If you like rock, indie and music like that, this is your place! You can be dressed how you feel. But probably you don't feel very comfortable when you're overdressed. Jeans and sneakers are okay.

Das Café: Cosy café in the middle of Mönchengladbach

by elbe

Not really a place for nightlife but also a place where you can go to in the evening is Das Café. It's, like you probably already guessed, a nice café where you can find people aged 15 to 35.I really love the milk coffee and the baguettes are wonderful. You can also choose other snacks or dishes, but remember that it's a café, so the food may not be as good as in a restaurant. Dress how you feel.

Moshi Bar: Stylish bar in Mönchengladbach

by elbe

Minimalistic Asian touched styled bar in the center of Mönchengladbach: the Moshi Bar. People come in this small bar to see and be seen - and beside this to drink the good cocktails and eat the great food. A nice place to start the evening or even for dinner. I like the sushis and the noodles (everything here is with a slight Asian touch of course). On Sunday morning you can create you individual breakfast. Wear what you like but remember that stylish people go here!open :Mo to Thurday 18 to 1 o'clockFr 18 to 4 o'clockSa 11 to 4 o'clockSo 11 to 1 o'clock

Tip Photo
Die Nacht: Small, hidden House-Club in Mönchengladbach

by elbe

Small club-lounge, hidden in an old, shabby house right in the middle of the Oldtown vis-á-vis to the small tower there. Only a "dicso-ball" and grave-candles show you Die Nacht.Good house-music, young people (ca. 20 to 30 years old). Don't go there before 1 a.m. Not too casual, but you if you come in casual clothes the bouncer wouldn't send you home.

Tip Photo
Mezcalito: Student Mexican bar with great Margarita in MG

by elbe

Located close to the Oldtown the Mezcalito offers the best Strawberry-Margarita in MG (or even in Germany, I've been in many German cities but never drank Strawberry-Margarita like this)!! Nice Mexican styled bar. Many students go there to meet friends. So there are a lot of younger people age 16 to 30, the average is around 23. On Wednesday, 21.00, is student party, you have to pay an entrance fee (I think 2,50 €). Other days are Friday and Saturday. Everything is possible.

Düsseldorf Old Town: Die längste Theke der Welt

by sabsi

Are you looking for 280 completely different pubs or restaurants in one small part of town? Then Düsseldorf is the place for you. Its old town is called "Die längste Theke der Welt" (the longest bar in the world) and it really deserves its name.
