reeperbahn in hamburg: reeperbahn in hamburg

by cachaseiro

if you leave the main street with all the stripjoints and enter some of the little local pubs you can find a very uniqe atmosphere. dreadlocks and dirty overalls won't get you kicked out, but a t-shirt saying 'i love helmuth kohl might'.

by kalephunk

As a senior at Kaiserslautern American High School, I was all about the Harp Irish Pub. Still am. It's about half/half American personnel/German locals, but it's great fun. They have live bands every once in a while, and, while often not very good, they do add to the entertainment value. They have an extensive shot list... which I once almost made it all the way through in one sitting. I got to Southern Comfort. Then I threw up. Casual, perhaps a bit dressy if you wanna pick someone up. No BDU's -- goes without saying.

by Traulsen

Nightlife leaves nothing to be desired! There is the theater, there are concerts and musicals and dances, available year-round. The Tourism-Service Westerland offers daily concerts at the 'music shell' on the beach promenade.

by caramello

The EvergreenPinochio'sBoth in Garmisch-PartenkirchenThe Evergreen played lots of American music, although most of it was from the 80's. The main reason we went there was for the $2.00 drinks. Everything $2.00. Very popular with the snowboarders.Pinochio's was a more European, typical, renovated warehouse type place. Very smoky and crowded. More techno than oldies. If you want to dance until dawn, these are the places to do it. Most people wore jeans and t-shirts, but nothing to sloppy.

Trinkstrube 'Zue Holl': Trinkstrube 'Zue Holl'

by SilverVelvet

Has someone ever told you to go to hell, but failed to give an address or directions? Well, hell as an address now as in the Trinkstrube 'Zur Holl' which means 'to hell' in German. This Mevieval-style wine tavern serves many local wines with a hearty helping of old-world ambiance. The back of the tavern dates from about 900 AD. Casual.

The Irish Pubs in the Aldstadt...

by Babyb1ues3

The Irish Pubs in the Aldstadt are a treat. Everyone is friendly..the atmosphere is just to relax with some friends...and maybe enjoy a game or two. After 2 a.m. it's start hopping..and even i like to do a little table dancing..come on out..it's a real treat!!1The people that our in the Irish Pubs consist of Greeks....irish..english...german and Australian. So...if you're looking for english speakers this is the place to go..and they're all so friendly. Dress code...you can get away with anything. There are some bars that won't allow hats or anything that you don't look good in. The atmosphere is dress to impress. So...follow that guideline..and you'll be set!!

by Abakus

I generaly prefer small local pub than the big, smoke fill tourist bar. You'll meet very nice peopleand a good way to get info about the city. But I must admit that I had a lot of fun at the Hofbrauhausin Munich, I meet a lot of interesting people from all over the world.Good ambiance even on a week day. Dress code what dress code???

Great beer is the reason you come here. And you get loooooots of it! The barmaids serving 12dozen steins per hand is pretty awesome, and the Oompah bands are great too! Well I got in... As long as you don't look like scum I think you shouldn't have a problem... just leave the tux at home

by Beefy_SAFC

Typical western nightlife in the cities. The countyside areas wind down fairly early, though. Enjoy the beer (lager or pilsner) and the schnapps. By the way, the germans are switching to wines and being more health concious and have now been overtaken by the Czechs as the heaviest beer drinkers in Europe.Beefy at http://www.geocities.com/beefnetuk
