i havent been to a pub in germany that i didnt like. just ask a local and you are in there. dress is casual but some clubs may require you to wear a collared shirt. leave the jeans and your limp-bizkit shirt at home. the chicks dont dig on that much!
This is a picture of the Opera House in Frankfurt, but true German nightlife as I remember it involves heading to a beer house for a couple steins of strong German beer and then going to some techo/modern dance clubs. In 1989, when I was playing soccer in Germany, the clubs were playing house music that I didn't here in the States until years later.
The different traditional runs at night, espacially in the time between 25. November and 6.january. There are the ghosts are walking and drive away the winter. St.Claus is walking or going in a coach thru the villages, with him are an angel sometimes and all his wild guys.An origin feeling of be one with the nature and also a great fun to be with all the people around. normal, maybe traditional dress or warm dress ( winter!!)and long trousers/pants. They hit also adults.
I had a great time in Frankfurt in the Sachsen Hausen district (first picture) and in Köln at the Alter Markt (pictured below). In Sachsen Hausen, there are all sorts of themed bars (Jamaican, Irish, American, German.) In Alter Markt in Köln, I had a great time at a German bar/restarant and an Irish Pub/Disco (strange combination, right?) That's the famous Dom (cathedral) in the background.
The Dorlschaenke, Hochst is the place to be, the Guinness and german beer is great here and the craic is only mighty.This photo shows the owners of the bar, Claudia and Dieter relaxing for a change and enjoying a night out themselves. Do stop in here if you're passing Hoch Stadt.
In Weimar there is no more place for nightlive, bat you can ask about it,with the student are in weimar.Is possible that is no difficult because, they i think for personal experiece everywere.The 'cekeller' oder SchutzeGasse' are two bat there in the city I think Weimar is very quite, i don't why!
I loved that the place was full of Cubans, Ecuadorians, Puerto Rican service people AND Germans.The music was kickin' as well as the mojitos ..I got in at about 2:30 a.m.
