As I already mentioned, the bike tour allowed me to see some cities that I never would have visited otherwise, including Marburg, Wetzlar, and Limburg. Below is a view of Wetzlar from the bike path.

We had driven past the sign to the Wieskirche on a previous trip. Only later-- when we studied our guidebook-- did we realize what we had missed. DON'T MISS THIS!! The church is located off the Romantic Road, north of Fussen and just a few miles north of the town of Steingaden.

The Wieskirche is considered one of the most extravagant and flamboyant rococo buildings in the world, all the more unusual because it is literally out in the middle of nowhere! The church was built between 1746 and 1754, the work of Dominikus Zimmermann and his brother. There were a few small kiosks near the church, but they were closed on the December morning when we visited. We were all alone with the beauty of the Wieskirche.

Do you like old cars? There are several meetings where you can see these cars. This one I saw at the Bertha Benz memorial cruise 2001 in Mannheim. See my travelogue at the Mannheim page. There are more beautiful old cars....

Somewhere in Bavaria. Make sure to leave the motorways and to take the little roads- you'll arrive in the middle of nowhere and you'll find very beautiful places

The lake of Konstanz in the south of Germany!
It is a lovely lake with lots of interesting places around. Here are the prehistoric houses of Uhldingen. Make sure to visit also the island of Mainau, the island of the flowers

The romantical Dinkelsbuehl: It looks a bit like Rothenburg ob der Tauber, but there are less tourists. Make sure to climb up the tower of the church, you'll appreciate the excellent view!

Visit the castle and the garden of Schwetzingen (between Mannheim and Heidelberg).
I prefer making a walk in the beautiful garden in spring, when lots of tulips are blooming there.
