Nature Reserve Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue
by MichaelFalk1969
This nature reserve is supposedly the biggest in the state of Hessia. It is roughly 1/2 an hour by car from Frankfurt and though off the beaten path, well worth the visit if you like hiking (or cycling) and nature. This beautiful nature reserve is located in a river bend of the Rhine that is dominated by sandy creeks, wetlands, willow woods and a few meadows. It is a bird paradise, and there are a few viewpoints from where it is easy to spot swans, ducks, storks etc. Entry point to the nature reserve is Stockstadt (take motorway A5 direction Darmstadt, exit Darmstadt/Griesheim, in Griesheim drive direction Wolfskehlen and then Stockstadt - in Stockstadt the reserve is signposted, blue signs). From the parking lot you walk over a bridge and there you are.
