by Chacco

One place, much nicer than to stand with a crowd of people in Neuschwanstein is the region around the Bodensee ('Lake of Konstanz'). Here you find a lot of small towns, many (so small) castles and a very lovely nature. One of the finest places is RAVENSBURG, the 'Town of towers'. A nice place for shopping, no big malls, nearly no tourists, so you get a good price in a very nice setting (the people in the region are famous, that they're looking not to spent toomuch money). You can find more information under my 'TRAVELOUGES'

Mike's Bike Tours of Munich....

by caramello

Mike's Bike Tours of Munich. The best tour I have ever been on. The guides show you Munich from a fresh, down-to-earth perspective(in English!); not a boring, 'in 1536, blah, blah, blah' tour. You see all of Munich in about 4 hours including lunch at a beer garden. I don't think you can get arrseted for riding a bike while intoxicated:). Telephone: 25543988 or 6514275. No reservations needed. Stop by the office near the Hofbrau Haus and pick up a schedule then meet the group at the appointed time under the of the Old Town Hall (das Altes Rathaus).

If you have the possibility visit one of the many parties, organised by the voluntary fire brigade. At the countryside it´s a 'must' for young men (and girls) be member of the voluntary fire brigade. They not only fighing the fire, also fighting the thirst. So they organise great parties, specially on 'round' birthdays of the lokal brigade. It´s open for everybody and also an adventure for children.See my travelogue '- Party with the fire brigade'

Right along the Rhine you'll see a housing district. Everyone in Dusseldorf wants to live in these houses. They're absolutely beautiful with pristine architecture and a gorgeous view. just to walk along and look at the uniqueness of each of them is a nice day!!!

by nighthawk

It is very tempting to travel mainly on the Autobahn (highway) but you will then miss all those little places with often an Altstadt (old city). The Altstadt very often still has little alleys and narrow streets and the buidlings have great architecture. Churches are always a must see too, I think. I will show some of the architecture in Leer in a travelogue.

by drews

Norderney is a small island on the North Sea of Germany. It is very popular with tourists in the summer and is definitely worth the visit. You can take a train North from Bremen and a ferry from the coast. Takes about half an hour for the boat. The island itself is about 18 km long and 5 km wide. On the West End of the island is the town, which is a beautiful beach resort town filled with bed and breakfast guesthouses. The rest of the island is primarily flat with dunes as far as the eye can see. A large lighthouse on the East End of the island helps to give you perspective in distance. It’s not an easy walk to the campground on the eastern tip, so if you stay there be aware of the distance. It may be well worth spending a few extra marks to stay in town. The beach has the traditional boxes to protect visitors from the wind. Two other excellent islands to visit are Sylt, where the city...

ROTHENBURG: 73 miles NE of Stuttgart. This place is one of the most visited towns in Germany, so much so that the locals put bumper stickers on their cars proclaiming: 'I'm not a tourist - I live here!'. Rothenburg is also the most beautiful town on the Romantische Strasse which stretches for 180 miles between Fussen & Wurzburg. Look! aren't those the most beautiful architecture?

Strolling around this medieval city is a very relaxing experience, there are ST. JOKOBSKIRCHE (CHURCH OF ST. JAMES) to visit or you can head for the Kriminal Museum, the only museum of its kind in Europe! Here, you'll see displays of chastity belts, shame masks & a cage for bakers who baked bread too small or too light! Wow, serious laws & punishments during the medieval times!
