As a motto on VT says : take half the clothes and double the money instead of what you planned to take. Germany .. great for walking , cycling, city-hopping, road trips, so all depends on your destination and your activities. Almost anything can be bought at the drug store.

It can be raining, of course...

Even in the summrs you should bring both T-shirts and warmer clothes, the weather can change pretty fast ;) Be sure to bring you camera if you are going to the south of Germany, near the Austrian border. There will be mountains and valleys to take nice pictures of... it is so beautiful!

photo equipment

Don't worry about carrying film rolls, there are many shops where you can buy them.If you have a digi camera and wanna get prints or a photo CD of your photos, look for stores like 'Photo Porst', 'Wegert' etc. You can give them your card and get them developed. Also many drugstores or other stores offer that service. Many work with Kodak. Well, keep your eyes open and you should be able to find a place to get also prints or a CD from your digital camera pics.***http://www.photo-porst.de/***http://www.wegert.de/

Don't forget your umbrella and jacket

by terps94

One thing you will notice in Germany are the luscious green hills and this is because of the amount of rain that falls in this part of the continent. So with that in mind make sure you bring a windbreaker , light jacket and umbrella because even in the summer it can be a little bit chilly.

Pack no more than you can carry

by bakerman

Camping gear is bulky and heavy on top of your other luggage. If you fly in you might want to safe on 'tonnage'. Tents, sleeping bags, etc. are readily available in any German town and city in department stores and specialised shops, so you might want to buy them there. My tip for inexpensive gear of mid-range quality (not fit for expeditions, though) is to buy from one of the big motorcycle-equipment stores 'Louis' or 'Polo'. they have extensive websites, too, so look there before you pay overweight-fees.

All over the year it's a good idea to bring warm weather clothes and cool weather gear as well as good rain-repellant coat or jacket! Winters when visiting Germany's south or east you should bring a fur. Germany has a temperate climate with warm summers and mild winters. Winters snow is likely in the east, the south and the mountains. In spring and fall it can be very windy in the north. Bring your umbrella at anytime in the year! You can buy everything you need at drugstores (Drogerie) or parmacies (Apotheke) It's easy to get films and batteries for every kind of camera! Credit Cards: paying with credit cards in Hotels, big stores, restaurants and boutiques is possible, in pubs or small stores less customary.

Don't bring with you anything that you can buy it cheaper in Germany You can get everything here and probably cheaper. Cameras & Equipment are cheap here compare to other European countries. It is very organised here, have a tent & sleeping bags and you can save a lot by using camping sites If you don’t have a car or forgotten it at home, don’t worry, just buy a Porsche.

Well, you don't need to pack an extra bag to bring back bits of the Berlin Wall because from I've been told, there is almost nothing left of it!! This is a photo taken in 1989 only weeks before the wall came down. The Brandenberg Gate is seen just beyond the wall. As always, bring your camera equipment. If you forget it, you can always buy it here, but camera equipment is more expensive here than in the States.
