Enjoy the Baltic Coast & the German Lake District
Mecklenburg – Western Pomerania is one of the so called new Federal States, created after the German reunification. It comprises two different regions: the western part of Pomerania (the one which remained under German sovereignty after WW II) and the former Duchy of Mecklenburg.This part of the country is one of the most pleasant for the tourist and the counterpoint to the industrial splendor of other regions. Compared to other States, Mecklenburg-Wester Pomerania is not very densely populated and feels mostly rural, with large extensions of forests, farmlands and lakes. The 1 700 km. long coast on the Baltic Sea has traditionally been one of the preferred Summer destinations for Germans, but even in high Summer, there are few places where it feels overwhelmingly really crowded.
