Beware of pocket picker on Festivals, like Oktober-festival Munich,Colonia Carneval and in the crowd on the Reeperbahn/Hamburg and any Bus-Terminals and Railwaystation. In Nigth-Clubs check first the price-list before you order. Never use publik tranport without ticket, the punhment is hard!

Watch out during Octoberfest....

by JrSkymonkey

Watch out during Octoberfest. The waitresses will bring you beer after huge beer until you are wondering who turned the tent on its' side...only to later realize you have fallen off the bench onto your back. Then you may get up and start dancing on the table and singing German drinking songs in what you swear to be at the time, perfect Deutsch. The area around the Frankfurt train station is pretty much world famous for it's red light district. I have alwasy heard that the 3rd floor is the best. Thats middle of the road in looks but high marks for the 'service' I guess they start very pretty on the first floor and get down to 'would make a train turn onto a dirt road' by the time you get to the 5th floor. Ah the wonderful worldly knowledge I have gained by being in the military for 10 years...:)

That cup of coffee was just to expensive. Don't let you free of charge cup fool you to buy one. You better go to self-service automat. Coffee is better there and it's about 10 times cheaper than that I bought.

Sylt Ost: Five little...

by Traulsen

Sylt Ost: Five little villages surrounded by nature make up the area known as „Sylt-Ost'. Long leisurely walks or bicycling in and around Tinnum , as well as a zoo are its focal points. Keitum is known as the „green heart of the island'. Here you will find pretty thatched-roof houses behind frisian ramparts surrounded by shady avenues. Visit the 'Altfriesische Haus', the 'Sylter Heimatmuseum' and the landmark of the island, the old seafarers church of 'St. Severin'.Once upon a time the 'door to the island' was the little port of Munkmarsch.Today it is a paradise for watersports. sailing and surfing with a view of the church of Keitum, or the lighthouse of Kampen is simply a dream. The sleepy little village of Archsum has only 400 inhabitants. Watching the sun set over the ocean there refreshes the spirit and the soul!.Whether you prefer to search for fossils at the water´s edge or take in...

do not go to the 'octoberfest'! that's one of the events every non-german person knows about germany, but it's only a big festival where you can mostly find foreigners. german people normally go to other festivals - smaller ones, which are much cheaper and where you can meet people from the area.

The Hofbrau Haus in Munich. It is a tourist trap, but you gotta go there. I mean it't the biggest beer hall in Bavaria. It's kind of like a rite of passage. When I went in June it was extremely crowded; I can't imagine what it's like at Oktoberfest!Just remember:'Noch ein bier bitte' means another ONE LITER beer!

by hjesche

There are no real tourist traps in this country, but there are some places, which are just build to sell an image of Germany, which is a bit unreal. A lot of tourists like to visit places like the Duesseldorfer Altstadt , to drink a special beer there, or the Drosselgasse in Ruedesheim, to drink wine or they need to be in the Hofbraeuhaus in Munich or on the Octobre fest , which is usually in September . You may enjoy this all, but please : This is not Germany , this is a show and has all it's price of course, okay ?

by richiecdisc

Neushwanstein is a picuresque castle and worth seeing and taking a photo of, but don't bother with the tour. The line was ridulous, the inside a disappointment, and the tour guide disinterested. Spend your time hiking aroung the area, it's beautiful and you get the picture you were waiting for anyway.

Hofbrau Haus in Munich....

Hofbrau Haus in Munich. According to my wife, everything smells the same - the beer, the johns, the building, even some of the people. They've been spilling beer there for over 400 years so it's understandable.
