Definitely Linderhof Castle. It seems that it has been under renovation forever. The tour is iffy---the environs are also so-so. I have been here many times for family wishes and do not plan to return.

Oktoberfest in München / Munic...

by atwillard

Oktoberfest in München / Munic . This is masked as a German tradition and is in fact one but over the years Germany has sucked in people, mostly Americans, to this Beer Drinking crazy place where the Beer has been marked up 60% in price as well as all of the food and believe it or not we, the Germans, do not eat Bratwurst and Sauerkraut everyday.

The 2 castles of...

by inthegarden

The 2 castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau can be considered tourist traps but I would still recommend them just for the extravagant views from each of them. Then hike over the bridge and up the mountain for more grand views of both castles, 2 lakes and a couple of near-by villages. Both of these castles are located near the City of Fussen.

Prices. Germany is not that...

by barcodex

Prices. Germany is not that expensive country, especially if to compare with others in Western Europe, but while it's rather cheap ti live in, it's rather expensive to TRAVEL to. With the coming of Euro currency prices went generally higher for everything. Be careful in planning your travelling budget. One thing is that sellers often refuse to accept cards when amounts are low. For example, you will not be able to buy a family ticket to Linderhof castle in Bavaria because this ticket is still below the aloowed card transaction margin.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber: this well-preserved medieval village is FULL OF TOURISTS. Better you should travel down the road a bit and see Schwäbisch Hall which is equally quaint and medieval and blessedly free of crowds and trinket shops.
