Favorite thing: As an American I was most impressed with the pedestrian streets filled with shops in Gibraltar, and in Europe in general. It was most fun as my wife and I ( on our honeymoon) saw all the kids coming home from school speaking in different languages. One would say something in English, while the other in Spanish, and still another in Portuguese. This alone makes the trip well worth it--to see such people many different languages within a single conversation. This, of course is an American perspective.
While I did not find the shops to be as cheap as I had read, I did find them to be most interesting. They had a good range of items offered from shirts to cigars (yes cubans, us americans can get quality, but then again where but here can we not).
Fondest memory: The Rock. By far the most fascinating memory of our trip. I will never forget seeing it from a distance jet out of the ground where one would not normally think it would. Unfortunately, we did not get the opportunity to go up atop the rock, but I would highly recommend it.

Fondest memory: You really should see Gibraltar from the sea. Here is a picture of The Rock and the lighthouse at Europa Point, taken from our trusty yacht en route

Favorite thing: visit the Rock ... well, you can't miss it, actually.
Fondest memory: The monkeys on the Rock. They're not very cute though, keep away from them.

Favorite thing: the rock is beautiful. The best sight is from the mainland or from the air.

Favorite thing: Tipical invaders of Gibraltar, (note: that place is not Rock of Gibraltar, that rock is in Alicante, very similar than Gibraltar and its name is Calpe)
