Lord Nelson

by keeweechic

Lord Nelsons is reported to be one of the best restaurants in Gibraltar, certainly popular. A good place to people watch while you dine or have a drink. The pub of course is named after the famous Admiral Nelson and the décor is that of a ship. During the week there a live band.

The Horsehoe

by keeweechic

The Horseshoe Pub is on Main Street and serves a good selection of both British and exported beers. There are tables inside and out and on Friday nights after 11.00pm is the most popular time to be there. The bar is open all day and serves breakfast and bar snacks

Rock English Fish & Chips Cafe

by keeweechic

In true British style, you have to have Fish & Chips and there is no shortage of café’s, restaurants and pubs offering this in Gibraltar. Rock English Fish and Chips Café is on Casemates Square close to the entrance of Main Street. The café is small but there are outdoor tables and chairs to people watch while you eat.

Roys Fish and Chips: Biggest Piece of Cod Ever!!

by RAINBOWWINGS

Gibraltar has many fish and chip restaurants to offer but our best so far has been Roys. Good home made British fish and chips with the fish being so big it hung over the side of the plate! Got to be the Cod and Chips!

Lord Nelson: A choice for a sunday

by call_me_rhia

As we went to Gibraltar was on a Sunday, and he weather was miserable, we found that there were few eating options open, espeically for lunch. We decided for the Lord Nelson pub, in Casemates sqaure... which was kind of nice, your typical British pub, packed and with some football match going on. We decided it would do. Typical pub grub, in terms of quality... not memorable but edible. The food menu was slightly more varied; other than the usual burgers there was some mexican food - what there wasn't (thankfully) was roast and mash potatoes. The fajitas were OK, nothing to write home about... same with the burgers. The guacamole was a very sad story. A good place to have some food, a horrible place to get good food, though

THE LORD NELSON: MUSSELS AND FISH AND CHIPS

by sarahdebble

Dear all,This is my first ever posting. I have always read peoples tips when travelling and 99% they are the bible. However I was really disappointed with the advice I received with regards to casemate.I went to the tunnel under the impression it was the best place in Gibraltar on Friday evening, after seeing the photo displayed who wouldn’t!But it was bad. There was no one in there, the place stunk of sick and the people that was in there was all 16 year olds same with the place next door (Latinos)I was very reluctant with going to The Lord Nelson after reading sugar puffs tip, however my mates and me had the best time ever… They had a live band on which I found out they also provide everyday of the week, The drinks are all cold (something the tunnel doesn’t offer).Plus they show all sports during the day. The food was great (and cheap) and the staff was really nice even walked me to a...

Waterfront Restaurant: Excellent seafood beside the Sea!

by angiebabe

Got chatting to one of the restaurant staff up on the main street at the main centre in Gibraltar about recommended restaurants for either steak or seafood - this restaurant was strongly recommended so off I went headed for the address she had shown me on the map about 10 mins walk at Queensway Quay.It was a lovely place beside the water - I got given a table right close to the waterfront and had lovely service from the waiter - so lovely ambience watching the sun go down and the peaceful chatter of other diners away from all the traffic and crowd noise of Gibraltar main street area. I had marlin and then a delicious dessert and an excellently recommended glass of wine. All up a nice meal with atmosphere for about £15.

Jules Cafe: Bistro/Creperie

by katepj

It was a really friendly place with people in the bistro chatting to each other, good service, and nice relaxing atmosphere. A good place for a woman on her own without standing out like a sore thumb. In fact there was at least one other woman eating alone, if not more. There is plenty of choice for vegetarians. I had a spinach pancake - it seemed pretty big to me. I'm not usually overfaced, but there was loads of filling. Decent glass of white wine. Price for a pancake £7.00 and a good sized glass of wine was £1.50. I didn't have anything else as I was full of crepe. (nb it was a thin one, not the nasty thick type).
