Main Street

by gib157

In Gibraltar you can find many items that would be a lot more expensive elsewhere. Main Street is, well the main street in Gibraltar believe it ot not. It stretches all the way from near the Governer's residence down to Casemates Square where the ICC shopping centre is. The are many duty free shops along main street and ive had some good deals on camera equipment. Many of these shops are mini-franchises and one person ro family mgiht own a whole chain. As a result you can barter really easily and just go from shop to shop trying to get cheaper deals. Being a Gibraltarian citizen gets you better deals and discounts as well.

Safeway and Tesco: Supermarkets

by bugalugs

If you want to buy something e.g. food to make a packed lunch instead of paying for food out, there is a Safeway supermarket down near the Marina and on Main Street a small Tesco express.I popped in there to buy yogurts, fruit juice and the odd bottle of wine :-)

Post Office: Postcards

by bugalugs

As we all buy postcards there is nothing worse, well I dont think to buy them in a gift shop and then find they dont sell stamps! However I did manage to find one tiny shop in a side street where they sold stamps. Then its a case of finding a post office. The Post Office is on Main Street. Opening hours vary from winter and summerApprox hours areWinterMon-fri 9.-4.30Saturday 10-1pmSummerMon-fri 9.2.15pmSaturday 10-1pm Postcards are 30p for Europe and 40p outside Europe.

Sport City: Sports shops

by bugalugs

We decided to buy our (then16 year old son) a present. Grief what to buy though......we saw this sports shop and went in for a look around, saw a lovely cardigan type top which was Nike and priced at £72.90!!!!!!! Well after my husband had picked me up off the floor we decided to buy it for him after the 'manager' had told us that it was 'exclusive' and in Marbella were being sold for over £110!!!!!!! I tried to barter with him on price however he wouldnt budge grrrrrr, but in the end my powers of persuasion must have had some effect as he gave us a football! We ended up buying it and would you believe it, yes our son really liked it but has worn it only once as he says it itches!!!!!!!!! Forgetting the presents in future!

Low tax, good insurance services and easy vehicle documentation makes this place the best location to register your car for European driving.Or come to think of it, driving overland to africa or Middle/Far East too.

Safeway Supermarket: A veggie Oasis

by freya_heaven

Safeway Is a large UK super/hyper market Chain. We visited Gibraltar as part of our 5 month trip, Myself, my Husband & our daughter are all vegetarian and being veggie isnt as easy in Europe as it is in Britian. So finding a Safeway and being able to stock, up on Veggie sausages, Veggie Burgers, Quorn, Soya, Veggie cheese etc etc was wonderful. Vegetarian Food

?: Ceap shopping

by nigelw6443

Typical tourist shop I needed a watch and I also bought some other stuff. The kind young lady who served me with the assistance of a calculator ended up given at least a 75% discount without realising. Usually I am quite honest but in this case, on holiday day trip etc... I decided to take advantage.
