If you are an angler Gibraltar is purported to be a great place for fishing. Not that I know anything about it. When we were at Europa point, on both occasions men were fishing there from the rocks. There are fishing trips as well that can be obtained from different companies. Some of the fish in these waters are sole, different kinds of bream, bass, morray and conga eels and mackerel. There are two tackle shops in the town. Some companies that do fishing trips are:- Jalex Telephone - No. 350 78468 Lady Rose - 56571000 Straits Fishing - 5727400 The Angling Centre - 350 74537 I think because of the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean meeting up here in the straits of Gibraltar it has so many different species of fish. The picture is of koi carp in a pond in the Botanical Gardens, as I am not a fisherman myself :-) Leave a Comment Theme: Fishing Trips

When we visited this time, we were approached by a man from one of the companies that offer Dolphin Trips. He said the price was now £20 but also said that it was on special offer that day for £18. Perhaps it best to check out the other companies before deciding on which you want to take and which is the best buy. There are a few of these down by Marina Bay. | | | | Cycling in Gib and beyond | | | | | |
It's easy to cycle round Gib - just like it's easy to walk round. Although the roads are narrow, drivers are normally considerate, and there are quite a few commuter cyclists, so whatever your choice of cycling you will not be alone. And you will probably be faster than everyone else. Even better if you are coming from Spain with a bike as you will not have huge frontier delays. Plus when cycling in Spain, most drivers are rather more cyclist aware these days. There is a new law in Spain that says vehicles must leave 2m when overtaking a cyclist. Very good news for cyclists and does make cycling more pleasant up and down the coast and country roads of Andalucía. Gib has its own cycling association, 'phone number below.
If you like cycling you'll know what to bring. I don't know where the nearest hire shops are, but I will find out. If you are cycle-camping, there are good sites in Spain at La Casita (north of San Roque), Algeciras, and lots at Tarifa. All are within easy reach of Gib - even for me! Don't forget your mobile - all cyclists in Spain always carry them, just in case there are any problems, or they need to help another cyclist, or anyone really.
