The Bay of Gibraltar has one of the highest concentrations of dolphins in the Mediterranean and there are a number of companies running trips out to see them, I used Dolphin World. Best time is November to January and be aware that the boats tend to go into dry dock during February or March for maintenance. The cost is about £20/£25, either pick up a leaflet at one of the tourist places along Main St. or take a stroll down to Marina Bay and check out prices and times.

If you go to Gibralter you must visit the undergraund tunnels there you can learn a little bit of the Rock history, inside this tunnels you will find some example of the meals that the soldiers eat at that time, some of the weapons that was used and the soldiers cloths. When this trip finished do not forget to visit the top of the Rock and appreciate the magnificent view of the peninsula, but be careful with the gracious monkeys because they still all you have on your hands (sunglasses, bags, photographic machines, etc…)

Wild experience
They are also very small, but the dolphin breed I do not know the name of. The captain told us that the dolphins will only come alongside when they have eaten their fill. I guess it`s what you call `at the right time and the right place`, perfect timing! Make it a point to take one of these trips, it is well worth it.

Dolphins in sight
I must admit, I was very excited about this trip and I was in luck. The dolphins were in a friendly and playful mood. There was an area on the boat which was situated very low to the water where you could stand and reach out with your hands. I was extremely lucky enough to be able to touch one of these dolphins and the experience was out of this world!

Out to see the dolphins
This is one of the boats I took a trip on with a party of tourists to go out to sea and visit the dolphins. The trip involves going round the Rock to see the magnificent views and then out to see the dolphins at play.

I've not done this trip, but have seen the dolphins in this area. A few years ago while coming down the coast of Spain by bus, just a few miles from Gibraltar I noticed the waters were disturbed. I realised that it was dolphins, many hundreds of them, jumping as they made their progress along the coast.
.
There is a Dolphin cruise that heads out into Algeciras bay or the Straights, the operators guarantee sightings of dolphins or they will return your money. The trip costs (£20 adults, £8 children)

A tour I did a few years ago, a trip around the rock visiting all its attractions. You will be driven by minibus up the rock, visiting the nature reserve, St Michael's cave, Son et lumiere (historical show), the Great Siege Tunnels, the Apes Den, the Moorish Castle and stop off at a few of the panoramic viewpoints.
The tour was £10 when I did it, but I understand is now about £14, and good value for money in my opinion. You get to see everything of interest in about 3 hours or a little more.
