Fiskardhon Travel Guide

 JLBG Says:  Almost all the houses in the island has been put down in 1953 by a powerful earthquake except in Fiskardo; It is the only place where the old houses, some of the XVIIth, are still standing. Moreover, the whole village has kept its look, with the way the houses are arranged... 

 JLBG Says:  When we walked back, the restaurant had no customers yet but as we had now booked, we did not worry and felted comfortable about tonight: we had a table waiting for us and two lobsters for our party of 10! 

 JLBG Says:  The village is small and the quay is not very long. It is time to come back to our boats. They are on the other side of the bay and look very small compared to all other boats. Two have a white hull and the third (mine) a red hull. You can see them in the middle of the... 

 JLBG Says:  On their small boats, fishermen village do not fish far from the harbor, They most of the time go fishing early in the morning, come back at the end of the morning with a bucketful of fishes if they have been lucky and the afternoon is for fixing nets, drying nets, folding... 

 JLBG Says:  At the end of the evening, the quays are still very quiet and allow a peaceful wandering to watch at the local fishing boats. The largest are still very small fishing boats ! Later in the evening, it will become busier! 

 JLBG Says:  Is it a lighthouse or a street-lamp ? Given its size, to call it a lighthouse (with no house !) would be presumptuous. Though, even if it acts as a street-lamp it is more than that and is at the same time a navigation light. And occasionally a diving-board !

 Christianne Says:  Have your lunch or dinner in one of the numerous tavernas and waste your time watching the people strolling around. 

 Christianne Says:  Don't forget to make shopping in the souvenir shops but don't exaggerate! Fiskardo is pricier that any other place in Kefallonia. 

 Christianne Says:  -Dafnoudi Bay is a quiet beautiful beach. However, when the sun is very high, there is no shadow. Don't forget to take an umbrella.-Alaties bay, 10 minute drive from Fiskardo, direction to Manganos you turn right once you arrive at the crossroads. "Alati" in greek means... 

 Christianne Says:  Fiskardo has its own beach a few minutes walking from the harbour. However, there are other beaches in the surrounding area such as Dafnoudi, Emplisi, Foki and Alaties. 

 Christianne Says:  Take a cruise to Ithaki or to Lefkada where you can cruise around the island of Onassis family, Skorpios. 

 Christianne Says:  Contrary to the rest of Kefallonia, Fiskardo (and some parts of Assos) are the only places which survived from the earthquakes of 1953. The evidence to this is the Venetian architecture. However, this doesn't mean that the rest of Kefallonia is not beautiful and picturesque. 

 Christianne Says:  Fiskardo with is pastel coloured houses and the red tiled roofs it is a popular resert especially for those they are making yachting holidays.The harbour is full of tavernas, coffee shops and shouvenir shops.However, it is much more expensive that any other place in... 

 Christianne Says:  Once arrived there, we started to strool around the village. It was a hot day but Fiskardo deserves it.People were also strolling around, other ones were drinking coffee in the numerous coffee shops of the port.
