go to the local travel people dont book a trip round the island through the travel reps. we booked through the locals it was much cheeper and we had a fantastic day, we went right round the island it takes the hole day, we set of at about 8:30am and got back to the hotel at about 6pm.

i love this club, they play all kinds of music, there is tables made out of surf boards and the dj box is a speed boat, the bar staff only wear hot pants and little tops, they are all funnily enough very slim and prety hhhmmm sounds a bit sus to me!!

if your traveling around zante, taxis are great, they do drive like mad men so if your a nervious passenger it may not be the best form of transport for you. they do get you around quickly enough. you must remember to ask them how much the fair will be before you get in other wise they will charge you a bomb. a short fair should be about 6 euro's.

i was staying in zakinthos in june this year and went to laganas for a night out with my younger brother. We were both pretty drunk when we arrived, and there were gypsies everywhere trying to sell things. a small gypsie girl about 5 years old put a rose in my brothers pocket and stole 100 euro. he had no money left and had to pay the taxi home in scottish notes!
Be carefull and dont get drunk like we did!!!!

It's very easy to be drunk and be oblivious to whats going on, but thats just what the street kids want. I went to Laganas in 2000 and in the space of five years there are loads of street kids and peasent women on the streets begging and trying to sell you crappy gifts. Ignore them and just keep walking.
Some of the kids are only 4 or 5 but will be on the streets till 6 in the morning and you don't even have to do anything and they will be aggressive towards you, they kick punch and spit for no reason and try and act friendly at first and then nick your wallet.
Also everynight you get the same people trying to get you into clubs, restaurants and bars and it can get really annoying just keep walking. Most of the drink offers are rubbish or misleading.
Taxi's, make sure they know where they're going and don't be tricked into thinking they didn't understand.
Never ride motorbikes in Greece! Hundreds of people are killed each year, the Greeks seem to have no rules on the road so it's no good thinking people will break or stop or be on the right side of the road, they do as they please. The conditions of the road are poor and dangerous and most wear no protection.

when we were on the boat trip around the island we went to the blue caves, the water is really blue, if your lucky this is where to spot the dolphins, unfortunatly we didnt see any, but the caves are beautiful the walls are pure white and the water sky blue, the boat took us into the cave a little bit and sounded the horn, the echo was fantastic!!!

I spent a couple of weeks on Zante (Zakynthos) and did my Advanced Open Water certificate with Euro Divers based on Laganas beach. I can Very Highly recommend these guys as being very proffesional, organised and above all fun! wether you are doing your first ever try-dive, a couple of fun dives or a full course, this team run by owner Viou and the lovely Magdalena can make sure you dive safely while having fun.
Just look down Laganas beach in the morning before they head out for the day's diving or after 5pm when they usually get back and you can't miss the big yellow dive boat, pride of the owner.
They are fully PADI registered (one of the few on the island) and I willy be heading back to dive with them once again.
Equipment: They can provide all or any of the equipment you may need, with advice to match.

Fondest memory: staying up to watch the sun rise from the pool ( your not allowed on the beaches after 10pm they are the nesting groud for the creta creta turtals)

the 1st time i went to laganas we didnt know anything about it, all we knew was that is was hot!! we went b and b, it was not worth the extra money as the breakfast provided by the hotel was crap. so...
I've been to Laganas on two ocassions, once with a girlfriend and the other as a lads holiday and its more suited to a lads holiday than anything else. You have to see Laganas as how it will benefit...
