T-Shirts with no sleeves turned out to be very useful in the hot Greek summers. I didn't carry any, but I bought this one as a souvenir, and at the end had to buy another one, as I had to use this (which I still keep at home) for me!

You may see my travel-guides and maps on the photo. I don't want recommend Russian travel-guides to other VT-s because they are in Russian, ha-ha! But for Russian VT-s I strongly recommened "Vokrug Sveta" travel-guides - they are best in my opinion among many which we can buy in book-shops.
I had several maps of Greece. Some of them you may see on the photo. When you are travelling by car or by bus it's very important!

I have taken 450 photos by mean of my KODAK EASYSHARE CX7530 Zoom Digital Camera (bought in 2005).

I have taken 760 photos by mean of my SONY HDR-HC7E VIDEO&PHOTO CAMERA Recorder
    (bought in 2007).

I've recordered 8 hours Full HD 1080 16:9 film by mean of my SONY HDR-HC7E VIDEO&PHOTO CAMERA Recorder.

I've recordered 4 hours film by mean of my SONY DCR-HC30E DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA Recorder (bought in 2004).

I've made 800 captures out of my videos. So the total amount of pics is about 2000...

All these treasures allowed me to enjoy the trip every moment I want being at home and making my VT-pages about Greece. It's up to you to decide whether it was worth watching or not!

  • while going there in winter or late autumn, dont forget to take with you the warm clothes as well as scarf, gloves and good shoes. There are places where is snow during the winter, but usually it is a bit rainy and windy. Dont exagerrate though, there happen days with 20 centigrades during the wintertime so dont forget to take also lighter clothes like t-shirts and fleece

It's clear without saying that you can't travel without passport, voucher and money! But for us Russians you can’t cross the border of EU (and sequentially the border of Russia) without visa. Sometimes it becomes a great problem for us. So we have to take an advantage of tourist firms and can’t travel without their help unfortunately...

This time I bought a tour from Mouzenidis Travel tourist operator around Greece. I should say I wasn't regret. Everything was o.k. Especially I would say thanks to our guide Konstantin.

    Toast for breakfast

  • If you are going to be in self- catering accommodation in Greece, take a small grid with you that you can stand over an electric ring. You can now make toast easily. Simple, isn't it??

One other item we always take and that's a milk pan. We like our breakfast coffee made with hot milk and how often is your accommodation supplied with a small pan? Enormous, yes, small, no!

This human did not need anything: just sun, fire and meal. He rested upon his own claws and teeth. Don’t trust his sad eyes, he lived perfectly his long 25 years in the caves of Greece 700 thousand years ago (you can ask him about it in the museum of Petralon Caves). He has been much happier than majority of modern people who make long packing lists. Really hard work. But the problem is solved. Just ask a simple Greek what should you take to Greece with yourself, he’ll answer: “You can find everything in Greece!”

Well, take some medicines with yourself. It may happen that some medicines are not imported into a country, or they exist under a different name.
Be prepared to catch cold, most of tourists cough and sneeze because of conditioners.

What should you pack in the carry-on bag?

The airlines are notorious for losing luggage, we all know that. Yet, there are still people who make the foolish mistake of putting valuable items in their checked luggage! Soft-sided bag constructed from high-tech material is the best. You can use it also as pillow, while you are waiting for a long time on the airport, and want to rest.

Personal need: toiletries, a change of underwear, some food, a sweater, wet wipes,

Medications, contact lens paraphernalia, asthma tools, and a little handy-pack of tissues should always go into your carry-on bag.

Do not forget a small camera and a good Travel Guide! They won't add much space or weight, and are well worth it if you end up spending more time that you expected still and waiting.

The longer the trip, the more items, the larger the Luggage! Just remember, whatever you pack, you have to carry!

Most airlines allow you a carry-on bag and one personal item (briefcase, laptop or something like that). Pack your carry-on as if you expect your checked baggage to be lost. Choose a bag that is large enough to handle all the things you need to take, but small enough to fit the size requirements at your airline. Things like this should be carried on your person or packed in a carry-on bag that will fit under the seat.
    • Small valuables: cash, credit cards, jewelry, cameras.
    • Critical items: medicine, keys, passport, tour vouchers, tickets.
    • Irreplaceable items: manuscripts, heirlooms.
    • Fragile items: eyeglasses, glass containers, liquids.
    • Personal need: toiletries, a change of underwear, some food, a sweater, wet wipes,

Remember, the only way to be sure your valuables are not damaged or lost is to keep them with you.

  • Changing Money in Greece
There are banks on the islands and some hotels will change money too but check rates and commissions. There are also ATM machines but don't rely on them since if they break on Friday they won't be fixed until Monday (at least). Always have a reserve. Changing dollars is not a big deal. There are roughly 300 drachma to the dollar but the rate fluctuates almost daily so keep your eye on the rates posted in the banks and English language papers.
