Platamon Travel Guide

 prleprle Says:  On that rocks over the sea (if you can see that on the photo) is situated famous Platamon castle… Olipmpos is in background! 

 prleprle Says:  Platamon is small place connected with village of Neos Panteleimon and castle on one side and village and tourist vacation spot Nei Pori on another, everything within walking distance. There is not much to see or to do (castle is an exception) but it’s great place to enjoy... 

 prleprle Says:  I took this photo from the walls of Platamon castle. It’s beach of Neos Panteleimon village on the other side of the rocks with castle of Platamon and is absolutely my favorite one!!! As you can see… it’s also still hidden and undiscovered by many. 

 prleprle Says:  There are also small chapel that adjoin big church. 

 prleprle Says:  As a completely new summer village and vacation spot, Nei Pori also has completely new church… big, charming and interesting. 

 prleprle Says:  Anyway, you'll be able to see this mermaid on Platamon corso... she is waiting for you and fortunately, she is not so dangerous as those from fairytales and ancient stories. 

 prleprle Says:  This mermaid already left Greece... you should look for her on some other places... but, maybe, she will come back one day! 

 prleprle Says:  Three days (out of ten) was little bit windy and then big waves visited our beach. What a fun for children… and not only for them :-) 

 prleprle Says:  Sand, azure sea and warm (but not too hot!) sun... time to be lazy and enjoy on the beach!!! 

 prleprle Says:  We spent great 10 days at Nei Pori, small, new and relaxing vacation spot in vicinity (15 minutes on foot) of Platamon. The main attraction of Nei Pori is this really great beach.... very long and wide and with golden sand. 

 prleprle Says:  It's so obvious why ancient Greeks imagined that Gods live on Olympos, its peak was always hidden with the clouds. I try several times to get nice and clear photo of the Olympos but that two I made was the best I could do. 

 prleprle Says:  The donjon tower (acropyrgion) dated to the 14th century and had been damaged during the bombadrment of the Second World War. It's carefully restored now. Unfortunatelly you can't clim on and admire the view from the top! :-( 

 prleprle Says:  The Byzantine wall was restored by the Franks after 1204 and again by the Byzantines in the 14th century. At the end of the 14th century the fortress was captured by the Turks and was again rebuilt but its inhabitants continued to be Christians. In the Second World War... 

 prleprle Says:  The Platamon castle is main attraction of the region. Castle is a fortress-town of the middle Byzantine period (10th century ) and lies at the south-east foot of mount Olympos, at a strategic position which controls the route leading from Macedonia to Thessaly and south...
