Things to Do

Pleasure Cruise?

Pleasure Cruise?, Poros

Zoliver Says:  Avoid at all costs the "Three Island Pleasure Cruise" run by Epirotiki Cruises and Pleasure Crusies to the islands of Poros, Hydra, and Aegina. Once you aboard, you'll scamper around looking for a place to hide from both the frigid 'breeze' and the three hundred other...

Walk

Walk, Poros

GracesTrips Says:  Poros is TINY, to say the least. So, plan to have a nice meal and walk up and down the shoreline. If you plan to stay over night, it should be for one evening unless you plan to lounge around your hotel.

Hotels

Hotel Dimitra: So friendly

Hotel Dimitra: So friendly, Poros

gaylordtrotsky Says:  Spacious, clean, well furnished Greek accomodation, with superb views of the bay, the mainland and the harbour. The most friendly people from Zoe in the office at the harbour, through Mrs Sadas who does everything to the owner MRS Dimitra who is possibly one of the nicest...

I can't make a recommendation

I can't make a recommendation, Poros

GracesTrips Says:  You won't find a 4 or 5 star hotel here. I cannot vouch for what kind of hotels they have. Here is a picture of a sign in front of one of the hotels on the main street. That should give you an idea of what's available.

Restaurants

Don't know the Name: Surprisingly Good!

Don't know the Name: Surprisingly Good!, Poros

GracesTrips Says:  We stopped and ate at a restaurant on our way to Poros. Outside of Athens, the locals don't really speak English and we managed to communicate our order to the waitress. I looked at the menu and ordered a "cheese salad" and a "green salad". So, what they brought to the table...

Transportation

Rent a Car

Rent a Car, Poros

GracesTrips Says:  The drive is pleasant and beautiful throughout the Peloponnese. Renting a car isn't cheap if you plan to put on a lot of miles but it is a wonderful way the see the country. We rented a car that was brought to hotel in Athens and arranged to return the car at the airport. We...

Shopping

Again, Don't Know: A Bakery

Again, Don't Know: A Bakery, Poros

GracesTrips Says:  This is not a good picture, lots of reflection off the glass but you can see all the baked goods for sale. It looked delicious!

Small Grocery Markets: If I was able to cook, I would be buying!

Small Grocery Markets: If I was able to cook, I would be buying!, Poros

GracesTrips Says:  A typical grocery store would have their produce just outside of the store for all to view. It looked soooo good! The unfortunate drawback with traveling is that you stay in a hotel, there is no kitchen and so, you can't cook. I can't count how many times I wish we could buy...

My boyfriend bought this beautiful painting by a Greek artist in Athens just the previous day. The art gallery owner said it was a scene from the island of Poros. This is where the Greek go to for......
