In the photos you will see the kinds of local craft items one finds in a shop. It is impossible to show all types of things here, but you can at least see some of it.
We enjoy shopping and looking at this kind of thing as where we live near Venice, most of the tourist items are made in China and made to look Italian.
Hats off to the Greeks who still make their own goods.
What to buy:
We bought a nice table cloth with a Greek design, a nicely designed wooden boat, and some ceramic items.
What to pay:
The prices were much lower than we expected to pay.
The shops do not bargain or negotiate, but if you buy several items they sometimes throw in something nice for free.
In Nafplio's historic centre, there is a special place with a great variety of handmade goods of exceptional quality. MITOS offers handmade carpets, both modern and antique, from Persia and from other countries in Central Asia. All goods are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Open Monday to Sunday 10:00 to 22:00
The main shopping street is the wide pedestrian Street, Platica Syndagmatos, paralleling the waterfront and runs the length of the town. Shops and boutiques can also be found on the side streets.
An assortment of Greek souvenirs, a number of jewelry and local art stores can be found at Nafplio's various shops.

KONIAK!!
What to buy: In the market of Nafplio you can find a wide collection of compolois (rosary), made of amber, silver or other semi-precious stones in good prices. “KARONIS” distillery was established almost a century ago, and in his wine cellar you can buy ouzo and magnificent cherry liqueur. Don’t forget to buy also home made noodles (hilopites) and frumenty (trahanas) from “Mallios”!
No shop in particular! There are many who sell sea shells, from the smallest ones to really big ones, with all kinds of colours and shapes! I was amazed at how many different ones there are!
What to pay:
Look for shops in little alleys of the town and not right in front of the harbour. They are cheaper, but generally Naflio isn't at all an expensive place to be!
