Gate of Athena Archegetis
Favorite thing: The Gate of Athena Archegetis is situated in the west part of the Roman Agora.
It was built between 19 and 11B.C.
The entrance of the monument has a row of four Doric
columns and a pedestal made of marble.
It was constructed with donations of Julius Caesar and Augustus. I was dedicated to the partoness of the city Athena Archegetis.
The entrance to east part of the Agora has a row of Ionic columns.

Favorite thing: Ancient Agora
Fondest memory: The Agora (market) was Athens' meeting place in ancient times. But it's a disappointing place for tourists, though Socrates spent a lot of time here expounding his philosophy. Except Temple of Hephaestus, there's almost nothing to see.

THE ANCIENT AGORA The Ancient...
Favorite thing: The Agora was very important to ancient Greek society as public life was concentrated here. It was shaded with poplar, willows and planetrees and ornamented with fountains, temples, alters, and statues. Merchants and vendors sold all matter of items available to the ancient Greeks. Bankers and money lenders spread their tables and opened for business.
Pay special attention to the Temple of Hephastius (or Theseium), which is the best preserved temple in all of Greece and is not always mentioned.

Favorite thing: Down the rock from Acropolis (north- west) side is Ancient Agora with a little museum and the temple of Thision. You can visit both with the same ticket you have pay to see Acropolis (12€).

Favorite thing: Decent public toilets can be hard to find anywhere, but the reconstructed Stoa of Attalos, it must be said, has amazing toilets!
