Favorite thing: This Stadium is called "KALIMARMARON" which means "Beautiful marble stadium". It was built in the 4th century BC. It has been restored twice and its capacity is 70.000 spectators. In 1896 the first modern Olympic games were held in this Stadium.
Fondest memory: Standing on the track of the old Olympic Stadium here, which is brand new compared to the Parthenon atop the Acropolis, seen in the background here...such a historical contrast!
Fondest memory: Climb those comfy stone steps and get the crowd's-eye view of things here at Athens' 1896 Olympic Stadium...
Favorite thing:
Panathinaikon Stadium (Kallimarmaro).
Marathon Classic Route:Run from Marathon Area finishing at the Panathinaikon Stadium (Kallimarmaro).
Favorite thing: You must run a lap around the Olympic Stadium (see me below - pant pant!). The Panathenaic Stadium was built some time in the 1800's, then was rebuilt in marble for the first Olympic's in 1896.
