He was the leader of the historical greek group "Termites" (1980-1988). In 1989 he created his first solo album, but he became widely known in 1991, because of the success of the song "Didimoticho blues" - it is the title of my page about this city too! (Marousi, 20/9/1998)
D. Savvopoulos (he was born in Thessaloniki in 1944) is fairly called "the Greek Bob Dylan", as -having companion his guitar and his strange voice- he managed to bring something different at the musical reality of Greece since the early '60s... His new releases are still in the centre of interest ("Sfendona", 3/4/1997).
On the south slope of the Acropolis of Athens sits Odeon of Herodes Atticus Amphitheatre. The theater has been restored and plays host to a variety of performances through-out the year.
On 14-16/6/2002, the 2nd WOMAD Festival took place in Athens. I went there at the last day and I understood why it is called so... (WOMAD=World Of Music, Arts and Dance)
D. Galani (on the right) is one of the greatest female singers of Greece and L. Nikolakopoulou is maybe the best Greek lyrist (26/4/1996, Pedion Areos).
