Luggage and bags:
Sailing ships have cramped quarters, back in small bags, and try to only bring one.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: On this cruise, we had to have nice clothes. On the last night i wore slacks and a two-button navy blazer to the Captain's dinner.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: sunscreen prevents skin cancer!
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: trunks, there's a lot of swimming involved in being at sea for a week. Also, I have these Chaco thongs, with the Vibram soles that are life-savers when hiking down 1000' vertical feet of centuries-old slippery stone steps.
Like you can imagine, Greece is a mediterranean country. You can expect rain, a lot of wind and of course the sun. We were in continental greece in november and it was hot in the day and cold in the night. Make sure you bring a sweater for your night walking. In the day a short can be good.
Remember that you can enter in some religious site with a proper clothing. Refer with the site before.
Photo Equipment: Like all travel bring your camera...with a good memory card or a lot of film!!!
Your Acropolis Ticket (12€) is also valid for:
Theatre of Dionysos
Temple of Olympeon Zeus
Take a pleasure of all these sights for one price, ha-ha!
You absolutely have to take:
1) sandals - for easy-walking everywhere;
2) cap - to protect your head;
The most unnecessary thing is an umbrella - rains are very rare here, especially in summer.
Luggage and bags:
As I like to travel LIGHT, I use to do the "bed test". I spread all the items on a bed. All that doesn't fit on the bed I leave it at home.
It has always worked for me :-))
Luggage and bags: If you are gonna sleep on a ferry deck, bring a good sleeping bag. It's really cold out there, I can tell you!!
In Athens you´ll go walking everywhere, so take with you confortable shoes.
