Dating back from 1926 (!!) this is really an old place that is still housed in the old neoclassical building that dates from 1890!
Aigaion (Aegean in English) is one of the favorite places among the Athenians when they are in need for loukoumades. It's a tiny old (very old) place, you go down the stairs and you feel like taking part in a black and white old greek film, marble tables and simple chairs and the customers vary from students to old folks.
I usually order the traditional ones with honey although lately we allo trapped into the ones with chocolate (if you do this add the walnuts to enjoy them to the maximum). In any case they are traditional which means crunchy outside and fluffy inside and they are covered with syrup, icing sugar and cinnamon.
price for portion is 3euros.
Other alternatives here are galatopita(milk pie), portokalopita(orange pie), milopita(apple pie), karydopita (walnutpie), fruit gel, ryzogalo, crème.
This traditional little shop has been there since 1926. It is famous for its loukoumades...What is loukoumades? Little honey puffs, somekind of donuts with honey and syrup...You just have to try it!!
