We were in this restaurant after I read the review. it is absuletely a hidden gem. If you stay longer than 2 days in Athens, this is an excellent place to discover. Athmosphere, service, food is EXCELLENT. It is a little bit far but worth to have a seafood in a restaurant that locals prefer. You would also enjoy the seaside part of Athens, after some days in the crowded city center.

Favorite Dish: They serve 1 type of fresh fish daily, shrimps and salad. fish and shrimps were really fresh. We asked for 1/2 kg of fish, 10 shrimps, salad(without feta cheese) and a 0.2 l ouzo and price was 50 euros, around 70 USD for two people (water and dessert was free of charge). They also serve homemade wine, beer and other soft drinks if you dont prefer ouzo.

    Margaro's: Best Fresh Fish!

This little fish tavern is in Pireus the port of Athens.

I suggest you take the metro to Pireus and then a taxi to the School of Naval Officers. In Greek you will ask to be taken to "Sholi Naftikon Dokimon". Taxis are terribly cheap in Greece so you needn't consider this an extravagance.

It is right next to the school's entrance. Small, white, great atmosphere, friendly people, smiling faces. A favourite among Athenians you will have a problem to get a table from 2 to 5, so go either before that or after. They are closed on Sunday nights. They do not do reservations but you could always try.

This place is a bit far out. But the food is great. You will be compensated for the effort. Trust me!

Favorite Dish: The menu consists of only 3 things.
    1. One fish, which varies according to what they find fresh everyday, but you can trust it will be the very best quality available and always sea fish, never from fish farm,
    2. either shrimps or crayfish and
    3. a huge Greek salad.

Fish and seafood are only fried but they have maybe the best frying pan in the whole of Athens!
