This place is really good and affordable. Super-friendly staff (owners).
The meze dishes are presented to you by the table and you can choose your favorites (out of eighteen) and drinks (wine, beer, ouzo) and mineral water and pay a fixed prize of 12 € per person for the whole meal. The amount of dishes you can choose is regulated to the party eating. We were two and could thus choose five dishes to share + bread + drink + water + dessert.
We chose taramosalata, tzatziki, fried eggplant, greek salad, gigant beans in tomato and dill sauce. Every dish was good.
The place has a shaded terrace and a nicely furnished restaurant inside. There were people there all the time but it was not too crowded.
A special plus for the calm and friendly ambience. I can highly recommend this traditional family restaurant, running since 1935.
Open daily from 11 until 02 at night.
Favorite Dish: I am a Taramosalata-freak! Here, the salad is made of taramas, the salted and cured roe of the cod or the carp, mixed with either bread crumbs or mashed potato, lemon juice, vinegar and olive oil, is home-made and super good. Not at all as fatty and pink as the one you get on plastic bowls at the supermarket. This is the real thing!
Actually, this counts for every dish we ate here. Home made and fresh from the casserole.
Large selection of meze brought to your table on a large tray, jsut choose as many as you want. Selection of six costs about 15 euros. Always busy but they'll do their best to fit you in somewhere.
Favorite Dish: Flame grilled local sausages, or the lucious cuttlefish stew.
Off the main tourist area in the Plaka, this ouzeri has a great selection of mezes. The owner brings over a tray of the days selections, and you pick which ones you want. They range from about 2-4 euros per plate. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere. a grea place to have lunch or an afternoon snack.
An Plaka classic, Kouklis has a very nice terrace. From the upper floor, nice views.

For 4 or more, you can ask for a selection of 10 dishes and pay 10 euros per person
Again, not the cheapest of places but the setting is nice (oak beams and marble tables). It can get busy late on.
Favorite Dish: The flaming sausages and the sea food ( OH and the ouzo!). They serve mainly mezedes and dips here, not main courses.

Family owned and operated..away from the main area of Plaka. This was an intimate little place where the food was served family style,which means that courses are served on trays that the diners pass from person to person.
Favorite Dish: I dined on saganaki(flaming fried cheese), traditional greek salad, dolomides(stuffed vine leaves), loukanika(little sausages also lit on fire and cooked in front of my eyes) and a lamb casserole.
'To Sjolarjio'. It is a very nice & old place, very Greek, and with good prices. Easily recognizeable thanks to its vinetree-covered tables on the outside.
You do not order! Instead, the waiter appears at your table with an enormous tray full of little dishes, and you choose right there! Very appropriate if you want to try different Greek dishes. Be careful with the stairs, though!!!! (almost broke my neck)
Favorite Dish: Greek salad, with feta, of course. What a gooood combination, tomato & feta!
I had searched an Ouzeri from internet, and I found Kouklis. I didn't choose any other alternative in Athens. Now, I can suggest this Ouzeri easily. Ambience was amazing, Greek foods were wonderful, and Ouzo of course you must drink. I wiil go there again!
