    Save money!

At €2.90 a 24 hour ticket is good value if you expect to make more than a couple of journeys. It's valid on metro and bus, don't forget to validate it on your first journey!

    The station of Piraeus

by AndyRG Updated Nov 25, 2002

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

It is the starting point of the line Piraeus-Kifisia, the old "electric railway". It is a very useful line, as it starts next to the port. The renovation of the station was finished in 2002.

    Local taxis

Their are plenty of yellow taxis to take you around the city. Unfortunately everybody else seems to be in their cars as well. Awful congestion problems.

Flew in direct to Athens airport from the UK.
Yet again being lazy, it was the taxis that we used the most, despite the horrendous traffic.

Athens has got a metro rail system, that goes to all the important sites. There are taxis aplenty and they're reasonably priced.
