How to get to Poros
Poros is situated at the distance of almost 50 kilometers from Piraeus.
You may get to it by four ways:
1) by ferry: 8 times a day for 6,5 Euro (2 hours and a half).
2) another way by high speed Dolphin 6 times a day for 13 Euro (1 hour).
3) if you don't like sea journeys you may get to Galatas (Argolida) by bus from Athens through Epidaurus and then - by boat (360 meters) 6 times an hour for 0,30 Euro (5 minutes).
4) I arrived there by cruise ship Giorgis (2 hours and a half for 80 Euro including Hydra, Aegina and lunch).
First three ways are good for close and thorough acquaintance with the island. The fourth way is good for quick and perfunctory manner of travelling. The cruise ship makes only one-hour stop on the island.

Boats to and from Poros
Poros is linked to Piraeus, the Peloponnese peninsular and other islands in the Argosaronic Gulf by an extensive network of ferries and hydrofoils.
The following is a brief summary of my travels to and from Poros by boat in October 2005:
I arrived in Poros on the ferry "Artemis" from Aegina (via Methana in the Peloponnese). The journey was a little over 1 hour and cost 5.50 Euros.
I left Poros on a hydrofoil ("Flying Dolphin XVIII") to Piraeus. The journey was a little over 1 hour (via Aegina) and cost 17.20 Euros.
Whilst in Poros, I visited Spetses and Hydra. I caught a catamaran ("Eurofast 1") from Poros to Spetses (journey time = 1 hour via Hydra; cost = 13.50 Euros). Later in the day I caught the same catamaran back to Hydra, before returning from Hydra to Poros on a Flying Dolphin hydrofoil in the evening. The journey from Hydra to Poros took 30 minutes and cost 8.40 Euros.
I also caught a water taxi from Poros to the town of Galatas on the Peloponnese. The journey to Galatas takes only 3 minutes or so and costs 0.70 Euros each way.
