Saved or 'Taken?' That is the Question!
What are all those little white monuments seen all along the roads in Greece??? Who hasn't visited Greece and wondered what they meant?; Who put them there? Why did they put them there???
It seems that the mystery is not so easily solved. However, there are but two possible answers, which may or may not help! These little 'shrines' either signify the 'close call' of a traveller, who with the help of 'God' escaped death, and so this memorial giving 'Thanks' to God....Or the other scenario, which by now you must have guessed....the traveller died on this spot in a tragic accident. Unfortunately, the latter is the usual case, and let it be known, that Greece has the highest rate of traffic deaths per year in all of Europe! Take care! Slow down! Speed Kills!

Spring Time Ride Gathering Wild Flowers
One of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful time in Greece, is in the Spring time. The drive along the Attiki Coast is a favourite for Greeks when the wild flowers are in full bloom. Try not to miss it.
These photos were taken just across the road from the Temple of Posidon in Sounion. They are old structures, including a church, that were burnt during a forest fires that occurred in the area in the mid 90's. The earth has been regenerated and now healthy wildflowers and low flowering bushes abound.
