Argostolion Things to Do

  • Lassi Beach

If you don't have the means to leave Argostoli, you can go for a decent bath on Lassi beach. Lassi beach is just the regular beach with shallow water, lot of sunbeds and umbrellas, louder music and a fair amount of crowds.

  • Argostolion from above

This photos was taken from the road to Sami. It shows how well sheltered is the bay of Argostolion. (look at the map to better understand its situation). The city spreads over a cape, inside the bay. The very inner part of the bay (on the right) is like the arrow of a hook (foreground)

  • Argostoli, the chora, city center

The main street is for pedestrians only and is lined by a great many shops. In the high season, it is not easy to park close to the city center and you might have to walk on a good distance. Somewhere around the southern entrance into the town should be a good choice.

Argostolion Restaurants

  • Don't miss the chance of tasting it!

One of Kefalonia's traditional courses is the Kefalonian Meat Pie. The people in the Balkan and Eastern Europe area may be accustomed to this type of dish in various forms, however westerners and tourists from the rest of the world should definetely give it a try.

  • Do not miss having a Gyros!

I have visited several restaurants in Argostoli and I must admit that I have had some of the best Gyros in Greece. Prices were extremely reasonable too. Of course a Greek beer will always wash it down better:)

Argostolion Favorites

There is a bar at the beach, deck-chairs and umbrellas. I am not sure, but that I think that we paid somethin like 9 euros for the umbrella and the deck-chairs.

From the crossroad, known as Konismataki, beliw Pharaoh Hill, you take the surfaced road to the left which lead to the two beaches.Don't go there very late because you will not find where to park the car.On the photo, Radmilo my husband, very happy, because we found where to park the car.

Makrys Yialos meaning Long Beach and Platys Yialos meaning Wide Beach are the two beaches you shouldn't miss. They are both organised (well, better Platys Yialos) but they are both very good. The picture was taken at the entrance of Makrys Yialos.
