Favorite thing: Vathy spreads from the harbour to the hills around. The main streets and nearly all the tourist activity runs around the main square that is by the harbour.
But if you happen to rent a room in a house that is up the hill, you'll have to climb up and down the stairs a few times... anyway, the furthest point is about 10 minutes walking!

Favorite thing: There are not many beaches around the islands, the coast falls directly to the sea, leaving just some litlle rocky creeks and a few beaches. Most of them, you can only go by private boat.
The best beaches in the island are:
- By bus: Kioni and Frikes (north), Dexa (Blue Flag, 15 minutes walking from Vathy).
- By boat trip from Vathy: Gidaki.

Favorite thing: If you take a walk around Vathy you will soon be surrounded by quiet peaceful olive landscapes. Millenary beautiful olive trees all around, with that charming soundtrack of the cicadas in summer...

Favorite thing: Vathy is the tiny capital of this tiny island. A quiet wonderful city, where I eb¿ven found people who didn't speak ANY english, at last, after visiting so many touristic islands.

Q: Can anyone tell me any info on the greek island of Ithaca. I'd like personal experience please. Am thinking of going for a winter.
