This nice restaurant is in the capital town of Vathy. You can have a very nice meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner, enjoying beautiful views of the town. It is on the seaside facing the town so the views are nice all day long. You can sit on the tables by the water or in the main restaurant which is a little more protected during the windy days.
The food I had was very well cooked and gave me the familiar taste of my mother's cooking. I tried the “taramosalata”(fish egg salad) which I adored.
A lot of typical Greek dishes are served and the prices are normal for the island. Fish dishes are priced by the kilo , meat dishes are delicious and cost 8 to 10 euros, salads and small dishes are about 3euros and different types of breakfast cost from 3 to 5 euros. There is a special prawn dish at 15 euros, too. Dimitris, the owner is a very pleasant and cool guy, who is always available to help you.
The restaurant is on the road to “Loutsa”, which follows the coast line around the port. It's the last restaurant near the marina with the sailing boats.

According to a Greek friend, several Italian families settled in Ithaki after WWII. A few of them have opened pizzerias that take advantage of all local ingredients. The menus are covered with dozens of options, from the basic Margherita to a pizza almost self-destructing from the weight of 7 generous types of toppings. One of my personal favorites was the tuna pizza. It was canned tuna, but it was extraordinary on these pizzas.

Favorite Dish: Definitely the tuna, but I also enjoyed ones with sausage, mushrooms, etc.

Most of the local restaurants have a variety of dishes availible every day. There are good burgers and greek salads for lunch, and dinner is always a fun surprise. All of the meat and seafood seems to come from the island's resources. You can go inside and check out what are the choices of the day in the display cases. Wonderful lamb and chicken are often the meats, moussaka is popular, as is seafood of course. This is where I fell in love with octopus, but there are many options for those who prefer not to suck on suckers. :)

Favorite Dish: Just look for what's fresh. Basically anything in the cases is, as far as I understand. You can also inquire with the owner (I used very basic Greek and hand gestures) who are usually very happy to help.
