We had heard so much about this place but were not especially impressed. Don't get me wrong - the food was good. Just not outstanding!

Favorite Dish: Lamb Kleftiko - roast lamb with potatoes cooked in a foil
Grilled Sea food platter
Really nice dessert of youghurt, pineapple and cream - very refreshing and light (this was brought to us with the bill - on the house)

Dodoni (divine) and Bakery: Lots of lovely flavours
lostinwonder profile photo
lostinwonder 14 reviews

There are two ice cream places in Fiscardo

1) Dodoni (I think thats what its called) right next to Nautius travels on the waterfront. Walk past Tassias and Gaeta and there it is. It also does waffles, sundaes etc in July and August

2) Bakery at the other end of the bay past Lagouerda restaurant. I personally preferred this one. Tried Caramel, Melon (really refreshing), Banana and Mocha. The lady who works there is lovely and gave us very generous helpings.

Costs about 1.80 Euro. You can try the flavours before you buy one if you ask nicely.

Lagouerda: Nice local food

Its less fancy than other Fiscardo restaurants on the harbour and the food is more homely. Its cheaper than the other places. There are two restaurants with the same name. Lagouerda II is on the waterfront and Lagouerda is right behind the other restaurant (close to the post office) The one on the seafront has a more extensive menu but the one tucked away has nice grill dishes.

Favorite Dish: Stuffed Squid - delicious!!
Paidaikias - Lamb chops
Rabbit Stifado - Stew with shallots and tomatoes. Rabbit wasn't very meaty but sauce was excellent
Grilled Sea bass

Scandinavia: Friendly Taverna

We have been to Kefalonia twice and both times we ate at the Scandinavia frequently. The service was excellent and the staff George, Nikos, Jimmy and the many others always made you very welcome. The food as always was wonderful and always hot. We paid on average €28 - €32 for four of us for our meal and drink. The Scandinavia is also very popular late at night as it provides late night entertainment with Jimmy the DJ playing a variety of old and new music.

Favorite Dish: My favourite meals here has got to be the Souvlaki and the Mousakka. Other meals enjoyed were the Kefalonian Meat Pie and the curry which my son who is a fussy eater really enjoyed

Located right on the harbour front, what made this so special was the service and the friendly staff, nothing was too much bother and would create the meal to your satisfaction.
and it was all done with a genuine friendly smile.
We even got on first name terms with the staff there,(Thank you Tina).
There was never any rush to get you to leave,it was all very laid back and relaxing taking in the harbour views.

Favorite Dish: Mixed Grill for two (special) complete with two glasses of wine for 14:90 euros.
it consisted of two different types of kebab
Giro's, pork chop, beef Steak, Sausage, chips lettuce and bread with garlic butter, if you don't drink wine you can choose a different drink.

taverna 1900: best place on the island to eat lunch

situated at the argostoli end of the fanari road [or the geological walk],if walking,or driving from the lassi end, save your first refreshment stop for this place.set on the edge of the bay,sat under the natural shade of pine trees, quiet and tranquil.watch the lixouri ferry or other boats chugging along and a handful of locals having a dip inthe sea. choose a salad and 3,4 or 5 things off the starter menu and a half litre of house wine[and another half later!]for two people, and i defy you not to return. the staff are great, stand away from you and completely leave you alone to enjoy your meal.

Favorite Dish: we ordered[over 5 or 6 visits]greek salad, tuna salad, chicken salad.proper cut chips, fried meatballs, calamari, giant beans, fried courgettes, tzatziki, and countless other things all of which were delicious and very reasonably priced.

Lorraine's Magic Hill Restaurant and Bar: Best cooking in town

We loved this restaurant, because you are made welcome and although it can get busy, the staff are always friendly and the service is great.
Sitting on the terrace, you can enjoy the breeze and a wonderful meal, relax, watch the sun go down and you have a great view of the beach and see Zakynthos, which sometimes seems so close, sometimes far away.

Favorite Dish: Super cooking, grilled fish was especially nice, but also all local food!
The Rose House Wine is excellent as well as the cocktails.
We went there every night when we realised how good it was.

Persama: Spaghetti frutti di mare

There are four good tavernas on Ayia Efimia. They have their own unique specialty. One was good for souvlaki, one for the seafood pasta and another grill. Another I don't know as did not go to eat there.

So much to my joy, I found this taverna doing the Spaghetti frutti di mare just the way I like it! I went twice after trying out the others for the same dish. We even got our dessert on the house!!

Favorite Dish: You guess it right! Spaghetti frutti di mare.

Costa Zapandis, Skala Square
4 more images

We ate out every night, mainly in Skala but a couple of times we went for a pizza at Katelios. Our favourite eatery in Skala was Costa Zapandis, on the square. Michael was very well received by his children, particularly the daughter, Anthoula, who the boat in the mural is named after. The food was fine ,as was the wine.
Also liked the Sirocco Restaurant, Scandinavia Bar (both on the main street) and the one on the beach (limited menu.)
The local wine was good, no need to pay high prices for the Robola, we tried it and didn't find it any better.

The pizzas in Katelios (we tried them at two different places) were excellent .

Favorite Dish: I don't remember eating anything that wasn't up to standard. I seem to remember most places served similar things.
