Favorite thing: Once upon a time, there was a sepherd girl who walking together with her flock. When one of her sheeps disappeared, shw started to search for it and she arrived to the banks of the lake. The lake took her name, The Lake of Melissanthi.
Another story says the the nymph Melissanthi killed herself inside this lake because Pan didn't love her.
There is a third story saying that in the ancient years, bees (melisses in greek) were visiting the cave lake very often.
The bees don't visit the lake anymore but it would be a pity if you are in Sami not to visit the lake. You will buy your tickets there, you can drink coffee and buy souvenirs. The ticket costs about 5 euros.
The lake is 2km outside of Sami, close to Karavomilos and it was discovered by an archaelogical excavation.

Favorite thing: If you have a car, it wold be better to avoid this beach. There are much better beaches in Kefallonia.
