My most expensive coffee ever
I had my most expensive coffee ever at 4.50 euro for a plactic cup of take away frape, from the beach bar "Bahalo" (tel+ + 52832) on the main beach of Hanioti (Chanioti) in Halkidiki's first "leg" (or first peninsula) called Kassandra. Frape is the most popular coffee in Greece, a type of iced coffee, usually undrinkable but that's another story. Hanioti is one of the most pleasant beaches I have seen in Kassandra. While at the beach you usually have to order a drink if you rent an umbrella from the closest beach bar. A frape usually costs 2.50 to 3 euro with an umbrella that you can rent for a few hours. The difference here is that i just ordered something that cost practically nothing, and didn't sit at the bar or rent an umbrella. I was still charged with this amount that I find extraordinary and they didnt give me a receipt automatically with payment either, had to ask for one (this is done to avoid paying tax, another painful story).

Enjoy your coffee and swim.

Take your own umbrella, or sit under the pine trees on the beach. You can have lunch with the same amount of money!

Avoid taking taxis from the resort
My friends and I were paying over 20euros for a taxi (called by the hotel) to go to nearby towns for a week. Until Maria (at the front desk) told us the bus schedule. It picks up less than a quarter of a mile down the road and only cost 30-70 euro cents to go to those same places. It's nicer riding in a Mercedes taxi than a public bus but your wallet will think you later..

If you feel you need to ride a taxi from the Gerakina Resort, call the taxi service yourself.

If you hate trying to follow bus schedules. It's even cheaper to take the bus to a town and ride a cab back to Gerakina.

Tourists pay more
On the east coast of Kassandra you can find Polihrono, Hanioti, Pefkohori, which are very busy, touristy and expensive.
When you have a drink at a beach bar, you not only pay for the drink, but pay 100% on top for the bit of music you get in the background...
