  • Very Special Architecture

Well, it's normal in Greece to build a two-storey house and then complete only first or second floor. I found this one special - building site on ground and top floor and completely finished middle floor. Keeps me astonished... ;-)

Kissamos Restaurants

  • General Dining Tip

First of all please remember one important rule related to eating out in Greece - select restaurants with a character, those where locals dine. The presence of local people in a tavern constitutes the best recommendation for a place! Don't pay much attention ot places lacking local character.

  • Good meal at good price

Taverna Petra is locatedin the main square by the bus station so you won't miss it. It serves good local food at decent prices. You can take a nice table in the center of the square's roundabout. There is a small and miserable fountain there. God, I don't know what my favourite dish was :) I'm a semivegetarian so I had to compose my meals from...

  • Fantastic!!!

Definetely worth a warm recommendation is this nice fish tavern run by the Papadakis family. You'll find in on western end of seaside promenade of Kastelli. Enjoy its friendly atmosphere, wide variety of local specials and perfect sea view. The host tends to speak at least a few words in all languages of the world. Unless he's very busy, he'll do...

Kissamos is not different from the rest of Greece as far as disposal of toilet paper is concerned :-) You need to remember that Greece has been facing sewage problems for years so used toilet paper should be put in waste bins.

Kissamos Off The Beaten Path

  • Elafonisi

  • Walk to the Port

If you wish to see the surroundings of Kastelli Kissamou take a nice walk to the port. You can go along main road West, pass road sign saying "Well come to Kissamos" (yes!!!) and continue your way till you reach marina. There you can have your lunch or walk on to the port. The port itself is nothing special so you won't lose much if you end your...

  • Archaeological Site

Whenever I'm in Kastelli I watch this site with the most of my interest. I'm not an expert on archaeology but the slowliness of works keeps me amazed... Maybe that's because two of those guys keep drinking frappe and the only the third one is working.

  • Flowers

Should you be visiting Kastelli in spring or summer, you're going to see those beautiful flowers and fresh green plants. It's great to see large old used oil cans filled with growing flowers.
