This weird sculpture is a monument to the everlasting frienship between the people of Palaiochora and tourists. In my humble opinion it reminds a zoophile having a good time but...

Municipal beaches are very popular here. In full season they're overcrowded. When I was there in May the beaches were practically empty but it seemed like locals were getting ready for welcoming huge crowds of tourists.

Water is crystal clear and the sand is beautiful. So are the views. Really worth visiting.

Third Eye is probably the only vegetarian restaurant in Crete. I was a little disappointed because food there was not spicy enough for my taste, it was way too delicate but tasteful and fresh. The service was ok, the prices were reasonable as well.

Favorite Dish: You can chose from a wide selection of different dishes from all over the world.

Castello is a local bar-restaurant-cafe-hotel :) It offers food, drinks and housing at reasonable prices in a fantastically beautiful environment. We had a sip of Mythos beer in the 'garden' with a stunning view of Palaiochora panoramic.

A garden restaurant in Paleohora - serving pizza, pasta and draught beer - heaven if you are stifado'd out!!

Huge wood fired pizza oven, so the making of the pizzas is the evening's entertainment!

    Cheap too!!

Favorite Dish: Seafood pizza - never ever had a pizza with octopus on before!!

As everywhere in Crete KTEL buses constitute a comfortable and cheap means of transport. As everywhere in Crete a KTEL bus station is a nice cafe where you can have a snack, a drink and use a toilet :)

You can get to Palaiochora by ship from numerous ports around Crete. I did my best to take a NICE picture of Palaiochora port but it is so repulsive that the best picture I managed to take was this one. Sorry :(

Small souvenirs can be bought all around Palaiochora. Usually they are ugly and repulsive but in some shops you'll find nice pieces of pottery like those you see in this picture. As far as I remember a fish like that cost EUR 7.00.

I'm sorry to say that but IMHO you need to be warned. Never buy anything at John Brocksom shop in Palaiochora.

I wanted to buy two shirts I just loved. I carefully selected the ones I liked best and asked the lady to pack them for me. She disappeared for about 10 minutes and handed me the package. I was most sorry to find out that what I got was not what I selected - one of the shirts was totally damaged.

    Unique Suggestions: Leave the shop

Fun Alternatives: You can buy nice clothes in other shops where you won't be cheated
