Hontzas: Try those appetizers, please!
Delicious appetizers with the taste of old Asia Minor and dishes "grilled-at-the-time". Oh, enjoy your dinner drinking "draft" red wine if it's winter or a cold Amstel if it's summer.
Favorite Dish: Melitzanes in the oven with feta cheese - yummie and grilled "mastello" for appetizer. Then try a steak, a beef or a chorizo, french fries, greek salad and and a tzatziki. Don't forget the red wine!

The tavernas of Chios are very good. I have my favorites, but I'll leave it to you to find _yours_.
I can't resist giving you a few names though: In Megas Limionas our favorite is taverna Agyra. Great food, great apple pie ;-)
In Kambos there is an ouzeri named Apomero. You can find it following small green metalsigns on the stone walls in the crossings on the main Kambos street, or ask your way. The place has a wonderful view towards turkey and over the Kambos area.
In Pantoukios there is a great taverna where you can sit on the seaside and here the sea "cluck" agianst the stones you are sitting on.
In Avgonima there is a taverna at the edge of the village, overlooking the sea. Great place to see the sunset.
Katarraktis has a few tavernas lining the small port. Wonderful place to sit!
Cafe Alkyoni: Yummy Cheesepies
If you happen to find yourself hungry while strolling around Chios town, go for the home made cheese pies that Stephanos and Eirini offer in their little cafe, called Alkyoni.
A hang out for the intellectuals, conservationists and artists of the island, it is a good place to catch up with the latest important things or disasters going on on the island.
Favorite Dish: A recipe from Eirini's grand mother, is the best tasting cheese pie I have ever tasted and trust me on this, I have tasted a lot all over Greece.

Whenever I find myself on Chios town the first thing I do is reserve two of these for myself by phone.
