The buildings are stone and line narrow, cobbled streets. Most have old fashioned, precarious looking wooden balconies.
A stream gushes through the village which is channelled into the fountain in a plane tree in the central Platea.
The road we travelled to Andhritsena from Krestena was the most major on the map but it still took ages due to the twisting, narrow road. We passed pretty villages, perched on ledges.
Although nothing much appears to have changed here in years, it recieves many tourists and the coaches pile in. It can become extremely busy.
We had a pretty poor meal here, served by a doddery old man who looked as though he was about to expire at any moment. The food wasn't up to much and the bread was stale. We did wonder whether it had anything to do with being on the "tourist trail" or maybe we just caught them on an off day!!
It is also a stopping off place enroute to the Temple of Apollo at Vassae, which is well worth a trip .
