It is a cafe-bar-restaurant situated at the place of the old sailing club of Chalkida. It is surrounded by sea and its view at the the Porthmos tou Evripou is fantastic. It serves Mediteranean cuisine. Try Veal slices with portsini sauce. For dessert you should try its hand made sweets.
Trully Greek flavours, well cooked situated next to the customs office of the town and to the old bridge. Try its meat and especially the sheep and the kontosouvli (small pieces of meat well cooked on fire). You should also try the aubergine, the tiropitari (a kind of cheese pie) and its bread.

In Chalkis I've eaten to several places.Be careful of the prices though. But anyway, as we say, you get what you pay.In North Evia, during the winter, is nice to eat in a local tavern, which you will find on your way north.During the summer I suggest little places by the sea where you can eat seafood.
Almost all restaurants on the road to North have a fire lit in the fireplace , which is nice-because it's really cold out there-and romantic too. They are framed by mountains and the altitude is high. The owners of these places are families and the have their home on the back of the restaurant. The whole atmosphere is cosy.
The other two places I mentioned are located by the sea.The first,'Bekatsa' at the beach of Kanatadika, is open only during the summers until late Autumn. It is a typical open air tavern, where you sit after your bath for a coffee or visit at nights to eat.The best thing with this place is that no matter how hot is in the town, it is always cool in this beach.
Favorite Dish: For the restaurants on the road to North I can suggest something simple. They do not have great food variety anyway.Last week I ate by the fireplace, in one such place, spagheti and 'tiganopsomo', that's fried bread with cheese(mmmmm)and paid 1500GDR per person.
If you visit Kanatadika or Oreous choose from the great variety of local seafood snacks or others. They are extremely tasty and not so expensive.
