If you stand at the old bridge over Evripos channel you will probably notice a strange natural phenomenon. The water changes direction every 6 hours! Before many years it was so difficult to walk in the forest because of the big vegetation. In some parts the ferns were so big and it was imposible to walk. At my last visit in 2000, i realised that the scenery was a little bit different. There were many paths and it was easier to reach them.more
This is the cathedral of Amarynthos and the name means “The Dormition of Virgin Mary”. This beautiful church is really worth to be seen so I didn’t regret walking for a while under the heat (it was 40+ celcious degrees that day!) for the sculpture stones of the exterior and the beautiful temple from marble. Some times simple things are better than popular sights. We spend only an hour at Paralia Avlidhos but the relaxing moments next the the Evoic gulf, watching the small port of this town toped our day trip along the coast. Exotic café wasn’t exotic of course, a typical greek cafeteria that serve the usual coffees and drinks. The beer was cold enough, the coffee good but the sangria wasn’t a true sangria. The prices were lower than an average greek cafeteria. The owner turned on the big screen so the customers watch the Olympic games of Bejiing but who cared, I preferd the sea next to me…
I also liked the inner sleve of the menu where some words of ADD al KADIR (1587) were written. Here’s the translation:
Oh coffee, drink of God’s glory!
The incomparable flavor brings euphoria and style to the people.
Where coffee is served there is greatness, brightness, friendship and happiness!
