One evening, Eirini and I were taking a walk through the charming upper reaches of the hora when we came across this trembling little Samothrakian puppy that was wandering through the streets... But then, when I picked him up, he was so full of affection...!

In Samothraki, you can still find the authentic soul of ELLAS. Extremely undeveloped due to its distance from Athens and lack of an airport, the island is one of the last great outposts of the traditional Greek lifestyle. Outside of the port, the radio waves are filled with nothing but traditional Greek music. You will share the roads and streams with sheep and goats. The pace of life is slow and peaceful... In the photo shown here, Irine_29 poses in the 'hora' (capital city of the island).

Hora: A kiosk and its owner.

Authentic kindness and simplicity characterises the locals and their slow pace of life. Unpretending smiles and eyes, balance (in a way) the effects of the slow service that we, the 'westerns' are not used to. Take it cool and enjoy it, as time stands still here for many years now...
