Fun things to do in Prefecture of Evrytania

The ski centre for Karpenissi is 11km. away from the town, in Velouchi, north east. I remember passing this in April, there was still some snow around.
It is a popular centre with the Greeks. You never hear of this ski resort when looking for a skiing holiday back in England!!

For those who love horses, I should imagine this is a wonderful area to trek in. The company have a good reputation and also organise other adventure sport activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking etc. It seems to me whatever you want to do, this company will organise for you.

Being there, can even make you feeling free like these deers (although unreal... hehe). The plane trees, fir and chestnut forests, the dry healthy climate make the prefecture of Evritania ideal for both winter and summer vacations.
What's more, you can be involved in numerous activities, like kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, rafting, hiking. Enjoying of nature, finally...

The town is small, but it is located in the centre of this wonderful prefecture, so it can be the basis for short excursions all around.
Among the town's most characteristic features are the workshops that produce handmade brass bells for animals.

The capital of the prefecture is situated 300 km west of Athens. It has been built on the slopes of Velouhi (Timfristos) mountain at an altitude of 1000 m.
The nearby ski center -1840 m- was opened in 1974 (the 1st private ski center in Greece) and it is one of the best and most organised of its kind. Except others, snowboards and snow mobiles are waiting for you...

Even nowadays the villages of the prefecture are discontiguous between each other, as the roads are narrow and they have been built at a large region full of mountains, covered most of the months with snow.
On the other hand, they are picturesque and the locals very friendly!
