Delphi - Epikouros Taverna

I recommend the Epikouros Restaurant, also on Delphi's main street, at 33 Pavlou & Frederikis. The Epikouros (owned and managed by the same helpful Kourelis family) has an wide and varied menu -- including tasty vegetable fritters, delicious local formaella cheese, lamb with fresh tomato sauce and, in season, wild boar.

The Epikouros also easily has the best view from a restaurant. Entrees from 9€ to 15€.

After day long walk in Delphi sites, we were tired. We thought, may be it will be a good idea to eat up something and see around the town, till we catch the last bus at 21.00 (it was sunday). This is the first restaurant, you meet as you enter in the town from the archeological sites. We ordered Pizzas and some fuzzy drinks. (It was about 17.00 - 17.30 hrs) We asked for tap water as well. (We were suggested by our Greek friend that Greek tap water is potable and no need to get bottled water which is just a rip-off). It took about 40 minutes for us to get a pizza and later on we noticed that the water jar contained some white insoluble sediment. (I don't know if I should blame restaurant for dirty jar or the water) I asked her to get a new refill. She offered this refill with most inhospitable way. Overall, the treatment we got in that restaurant was VERY RUDE as if we need them rather than they need any customer. There was hardly anyone in this restaurant at that time. We felt sorry for bothering them to cook for us rather than spending time chit-chatting outside. I couldn't decipher the name of this place as it was in Greek. Check the photos attached.

Zemenos Restaurant

It was lunchtime and we were not far from Delphi, so we thought we would eat first. Harry asked us if we liked lamb and knew of a nice restaurant that had lamb on a spit. He took us to ZEMENOS RESTAURANTwhich was just off the highway on the way to Delphi.
We received a large platter of lamb, two plates of french fries, a wonderful Greek Salad with a HUGE chunk of Feta cheese on it, a small carafe of white wine and a large plate of yogourt with honey. It was delicious but honestly I don't think it was worth the 99 Euros they charged us. We just about choked on our lamb but we split the bill and called it a day. I still wonder if Harry got a commission from the restaurant owner for bringing us there. That's usually the norm in Greece.

Just out of town towards the Gymnasium there is a little cafe with a terrace overlooking the valley which made for an excellent place to sit with a beer and chill with the butterflies before ascending up to The Sacred Precinct and The Stadium. I didn't actually eat here but the menu was more of a simple snack food type rather than a restaurant, with a choice of salads, sandwiches, burgers and ice creams as well as the usual coffees and drinks.

Favorite Dish: Cold bottle of Mythos!
