    New hippies!

Favorite thing: Matala is still charming, although the beach is full of tourists, even at the end of October... About one hour by car south of Irakleio, you may feel how hippies in 1960's were enjoying their lifes...
Near Matala, you can also go for swimming at the long beaches of Kommos and Kaloi Limenes.

    Bloom!

Favorite thing: This place, as nearby Mallia, is full of hotels, bars, clubs and so on... (east of Irakleio, too touristic!). You have many possibilities about how to spend your leisure time, as water sports (there is a water park).
If you don't like to stay under the hot sun for many hours, which is... dangerous, you can also go for a walk near the ancient roman port, it is half-sunken, or at the Lychnostatis Museum, to have an idea about the folk civilization...
