You shouldn't miss the VRELLIS WAX MUSEUM! If you have heard of Madam Tysseu's museum in London then you'll get to know that its only Greek counterpart are to be found in Ioannina! But in contrast with that of Mme Tysseu, Ioannina museum hosts exclusively persons of the Greek -recent mainly- history.(In the photo a close up of one of Ali-Pasha's wounded body-guards during the last stage of Ali-Pasha's dramatic life-The battle in the islet and his decapitation).
More information about the Vrellis museum can retrieve from their web site in the following link (Greek Ministry of Culture):

If you continue on around the inside perimeter of the walls, you will come to a large clearing. From here, ascend a cobblestone slope to the Aslan Pasha Cami, a 17th-century school with cells for Islamic scholars. Its mosque now houses the Municipal Popular Art Museum. In summer, it's open daily from 8am to 8pm; in winter, Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. Admission is Dr600 ($1.75).
The mosque was erected in 1618 on the site of an Orthodox church, razed by Aslan Pasha to punish the Christian Greeks for a failed revolt. Entering the mosque, observe in the vestibule the recesses for shoes. The exhibits, which include traditional costumes, jewelry, weapons, documents, and household wares, are grouped around the three major religious-ethnic communities of Ioannina: the Orthodox Greeks, the Muslims, and the Jews.
There's an adjacent minaret, and when it and the mosque are illuminated each night, the scene from the lake is captivating.
You can also get there from the gate of the lake, across from the lake front.

The museum is housed in one of the buildings of the acropolis, inside the castle of Ioannina. The central section was built in the 1960's and originally functioned as a Royal Pavilion. The museum was opened to the public in 1995. The collection of the silver items is housed in a seperate 19th century building on the acropolis, and the exhibition is going to be arranged in several more buildings of the acropolis, as well.
The museum contains collections of early Christian and Byzantine sculptures, excavation finds from Arta, pottery, manuscripts and early editions of printed books, post-Byzantine icons and silver items.
