It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that refuse to put on suncream and opt for nothing or even baby oil or cooking oil in the naieve belief that it will help them tan quicker. It will not, it will only make you burn and then peel quicker. A high factor sunscreen is always a good idea, a healthy white skin is far more attractive than burnt, peeling red skin. When buying the sunscreen make sure that it doesn`t have water or agua as an ingredient, it evaporates in the heat and doesn`t help you at all. I would also recommend a hat, long sleeve shirt and sunglasses as well to help protect you from the suns harmful rays. Leave a Comment

"left", "no, other side", "what are you doing!" by Jerelis Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, the catchy title of the 1992 bestseller by John Gray, succinctly expresses an ancient dilemma. What--if anything--do men's and women's brains do differently? The general statement that men and women respond and behave differently under the same circumstances is true; For example, from the crib, male babies tend to be more aggressive and females more passive. As adults, in spatial operations, men have the edge in such skills as negotiating a maze, reading a map, and quickly discriminating between right and left. Men also perform better than women when asked to visualize an object and imagine rotating it. On the other hand, women tend to perform better than men when asked to look at objects of different shapes, sizes, and colors, and then to group them in some order. This still doesn't explian why Relinde turns the map all around when I'm asking for the road to travel, while I like the map at one point so I can better visualize our position. Help! Leave a Comment

After about 10 minutes on the island, you will notice either the amount of scooters on the road or the amount of scooters rental places on the side of the raod. Every other local on the island rents mopeds. I led car tours on the island for 4 months and I can tell you every wreck that I saw was the direct result of a scooter. The locals drive them like maniacs and the tourist drive them too slow and get in the way. The roads on the island are very slick and contain many dangerous curves! The only reason our resort partnered with a doctor was to send our guests to him after they wrecked on a scooter. Please take my advice and avoid being just another statistic! Just rent a car, you'll thank yourself in the end. Leave a Comment

Be prepared for Accidents and/or Emergencies on Holiday...... It can happen to anyone of us and you should take all necessary precautions before travelling to an unfamiliar destination. There is a great website that is able to help you take preventative measures or to at least have as much necessary information to hand as possible, just in case the unforseen should happen. The site provides a download of a leaflet by PDF file (there is a charge) or by 32 page booklet (again, there is a charge). All of the Country & Destination guides are researched and edited on a regular basis - hence the charge for the guides. When you place an order for a guide, it is first checked & verified before being sent to you either by mail or download link. Why not see if your destination is listed? Visit - http://www.fisherstravelsos.com/ to verify the details now.......

Beware of the wasps in Corfu, there are LOTS of them. At least when I was there I found them more annoying than the mosquitos (although I got bitten by them quite a few times..). The wasps disturbed us most while eating outside or sunbathing by the pool.

Usually the water on the western and northern part of the island is cold. But it can also be ok, depending on weather and sea currents. Leave a Comment

You may find the place you're staying at does not allow the flushing of anything except human waste in the toilets. You must dispose of toilet paper in the waste basket due to the sewage and plubming system there. I believe other Greek Islands have the same situation but the hotel will let you know either way. If you do flush toilet paper when it clearly states not to, the toilet will over flow and create more problems. I would recommend not to use toilet paper but take a mini shower (hopefully the shower has a removable shower head) for 2 reasons a) your room will stink b) greater chance of catching somthing and falling ill (which many people did). You really need it ... by Jerelis For years, we have all been told of the importance of water. The general guideline has been to drink 2 litre of water each day. For a person who is not living an active lifestyle this may be enough, but if you are physically active, you need more water than that. That is especially true if you are hiking on the siland of Corfu due to the fact the average temperature is much higher than other areas and the landscape goes up and down. Water is essential for everyone, especially if you are hiking. Water helps almost every part of the human body function properly. Our bodies are almost two-thirds water, and proper hydration is essential to keep your body functioning properly during the hike. Some of the things water does in the body are: * The brain is 75% water; even moderate dehydration can cause headaches and dizziness; * Water regulates body temperature, which is especially important here in the area where the temperatures can be so brutal; * Water carries nutrients and oxygen to all cells in the body * Blood is 92% water; * Water protects and cushions vital organs; ·* Water converts food into energy (which is something you will need on a 3 to 4 hour hike…); * Muscles are 75% water, and you will use many muscles on a trail as you climb above the desert floor. Beautiful corfu road- CAREFUL by seasonedveteran Please do take care. While I was cruising my rented beloved scooter along the oceanside drive, I stopped to see what the people were peering at over the edge of the cliff. A CAR WENT OVER! There was a mere 18 feet of land, and thank god the Germans who drove over the edge landed safely, and they were very shooken up but appeared without a scratch! I stayed to watch for a while, and the ambulance was on the way. I went driving around corfu with a quad 4x4 and a scooter, and neither were very safe. Corfu has hairpin turns, reckless Native drivers, especially in the villages, more relaxed driving rules, and worst of all, amazing sceneries which distract you. I scootered in between car in traffic, made stunts, went offroading on strange trails, had a run in with some dogs, and went top speeds. It was nearly hazardous to my health, and please dont let your paradise vacation go awry. Leave a Comment
